Avocado! I'm still figuring out my new cool site just for Titus, but it's Here. There's ONE picture of him eating and it's not where I wanted it.

Anyhow, Michelle, don't feel bad about not mashing up food. I didn't even mash Titus's I just dropped it in the feeder and let him take care of it

He did like it, but he was definately ready to top off with booby juice when he finished.

Mmm, Avacado is SUCH a great first food!

So far Joie has shown interest in food, but her belly says otherwise. She instantly pukes it up.

Avacodo was Samara's first food too, a few days ago. In the mesh feeder. She makes the silliest face!

Well, Kali has just had two unusual first foods. Do these qualify?

A few days ago, I let her play with huge slightly slimy piece of Kombu/kelp (I'd made miso soup from scratch) - she LOVED it. It is tough enough that she couldn't break any small pieces off, but it had flavor and texture.

Then yesterday she grabbed a spoon of mine at a picnic that had some homemade (by me) potato leek pea bone soup all over it. She seemed to like that too. I didn't give her a spoonful or anything, just let her keep playing with the slightly coated spoon. To be honest it didn't keep her attention very long.

Ungh, I wish I would have paid better attention when I was buying the feeder. I got the Munchkin brand which has an impossible clip holding it closed.

Wow, so high tech. Is there any reason why spoons aren't as good for feeding mushy foods?

I like the mesh feeder because it's something Cailan can hold and control by himself. Also, it helps with teething - we put cold things in it (like a frozen peach slice) when his gums seem to be hurting. And it doesn't have to be mushy food, it can be something firm like an apple slice, that he's just getting the taste of.

I have the Munchkin ones too but I haven't had any problem with the clip.

There are some who will say a baby should be able to feed themselves. I'm not one of them, I just like being able to plunk a chunk of food in and let him gnaw. I end up holding it up for him abou half the time anyhow
