Just logged in today after a couple years of being away. I must say I am soooooo glad these boards are here and there are awesome women like you. When I was pregnant with DD and DS I was on another board with a group of pregnant ladies. They all thought I was nuts when I brought up questions about tandem nursing, co-sleeping etc. I felt like I didn't really fit in. Thankfully I moved to these boards near the end of my pregnancy with DS and now I can start fresh with you. So here's to us all and our growing bellies!!

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I'm in between. I'm not crunchy enough to be crunchy (I love meat, diet coke, and let my kids eat Happy Meals complete with cheap toy from China). But yet I'm still nursing my 2.5 year old, don't have medically managed births, and family bed (although, I despise the family bed).
I came here b/c I got tired of getting flamed from the other side. So far, no flames here yet. But if I do get flamed, it'll be a change of pace.
Welcome back and congratulations!

ok I have to admit I am not crunchy. But I am here because I admire all of you strong women. The peace and harmony I have incountered here on mdc has made my healing process more productive.
Alhtough I am a bit strange to some people. Can you believe I can count on one hand the number of women I have known personally who have actually bf. Wow hah. I am very for the co sleeping. but where I come from people think it is perverse
: .
So as far an being crunchy goes, maybe I am not as hardcore as most of you mamas, but I do believe in most of the way of life.
Sorry off topic. Welcome back tls.

welcome back.....i also am not "crunchy" and i don't agree with all their idea's, but i think, like everyone else, you should be allowed to raise your baby in the way that you want!!
and i am glad this is such a wonderful place where people are allowed to express their opinions openly and not get jumped on for it!

Welcome! Aren't these boards great? Such a sharp contrast to the very mainstream due date board I lurked on with my last pregnancy. It's so nice to be able to talk openly about homebirth, co-sleeping, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, etc, without feeling like you're a freak of nature! I just love this place. It seems to me that it's full of smart, strong women who are always encouraging and not afraid to stand up for what they believe in. The mainstream board I lurked on last time was filled with women who blindly followed the mainstream medical advice of the doctor/hospital without taking any time or effort to educate themselves. They were mostly closed minded to even looking at different options available. There was one lady on that board who was crunchy, and she got flamed to no end. I never posted out of fear of being blasted. I totally didn't fit in there. I'm so glad to have the mothering boards this time around!
