does anybody remember when we were all pg we used to stay up until ungodly hours talking? Now it hits 11pm EST and there's no one but me and Anne, and sometimes Grace.

Our day was kind of weird. DS is having bad dreams I think. At least he's waking up in weird moods every once in a while. It happened today after one of his naps. He is also HATING being buckled into the car seat. Is anyone else having this problem? I have taken to giving him a little time sitting up in it before I make him lean back and get buckled. It works out fairly well. I close the door and then finish loading other stuff into the car then go back for buckling. If I don't give him that time he screams bloody murder! As it is he still fusses and complains. I've got a Graco that's really easy to loosen & tighten, so I know too tight straps aren't the problem. Besides, the complaints start when it's time to lean back, not when I start strapping him in. Ugh.

Ugh, I'm feeling pretty bummed.... our new house seems to have a thriving population of brown recluses. I found one in my master bathroom the day before last, and one in Elaina's future bedroom where all our boxes are last night... and now, up at 4:30am with a wakeful baby (which deserves an 'ugh' all its own, I think) I saw two leeeetle ones in the other bathroom.

They thrive in cluttery places... how am I to ever work up the courage to go through all the junk in that bedroom?? :

I am NOT a fan of spiders. How scary, though...how do you get rid of them?

We took Cullen to his first Red Sox game last night (that's baseball, for people like Grace ). We were nervous that he would get bored/cranky, or flat out have a meltdown, especially since where we parked we were blocked in and wouldn't be able to get out til the game ended. But he did GREAT! He was flirting with everyone around us, we had SO many comments on his big smile, how happy he was, etc. Plus we had really good seats so he was actually watching the players on the field somewhat. Everytime the crowd cheered, he would get all quiet and look up into the stands behind us, and then throw his arms up in the air. It was a riot, and he had everyone around us laughing at him. It was like he thought they were cheering for him. : We didn't get home til 10:30 and the boy was STILL in a good mood.

Edited to add: he also nursed frequently all night long, and I didn't get so much as a sideways look from anyone. Anothert reason I love new england (I've NEVER had a comment about nursing in public, ever, with either kids).

Oh, and tattoos - yeah, I'm addicted. One sleeve down, one more to go, then I cover my back.

fey, you'll have to call an exterminator out to get rid of them...yikes. I got bit by one when i was eleven....i wont tell you the story...not good.

Kath~ Sounds like it could be teething? My kids always do the wake up screaming or freaked out looking when they are hardcore teething.
Carseats... try reinstalling the seat a little more upright. It doesn't have to be 45degrees, that's just the max recline and good for new babes since their heads tend to flop forward. Now he can be more upright if it helps him.

Hi Mamas,
I'm back on the train

Been transitioning Kat to daycare these past two days. I haven't left her yet, so I'm ok for now. We've been there 1.5 hours each day. The first day she clung to my leg like a bounce sheet for 10 minutes, but yesterday, she only hung on for 2 minutes. Then she started wandering around and familiarizing herself with the room. I might leave her today for 15-20 minutes. Don't know what I'll do with myself for those minutes...

kyouell - Kat hates sitting in the car seat and whenever I try to sit her down, she immediately stands up! Yup, stands up in her seat (it's rear facing) and will stand facing forward to face the "driver". The key to our Kat is distraction, distraction, distraction! Once very distracted, we'll be able to get her into the seat (although sometimes it takes 30 minutes!).

we have the same problem and the same soulutions with the car seat. i really am in disbeleif about how strong eisa is. you can literaly not put her in a sitting position (also looking out the front window.) i just hand her different toys (or non-toys) until i find the magic "one" that will satisfy her into her seat. sometimes though, after a long time of this, i have to "help" her sit down and she screams and screams looking at me like i have really broken her heart forever and then...she is buckled and fine, smiling in thirty seconds.

melissa- eisa also learned "high five" this week. so funny! and she loves to do it- over and over... she is also "singing" along with me now and dancing and all sorts of new and amazing things. i really love this age.
i tell you, i can see it in the future "the miles smiles show." sound even better than silver spoons.

also- i took another test on fathers day with a bfn. up until the moment before i took the test i was feeling like i really wanted it and then i told hilger "i hope it is no" and he said "what! don't say that rieght before you take it" and i really relized that it was maybe a momentary feeling, but maybe i really don't want it. so, luckily whoever is coming into our world next didn't come in with my mis-sentiments.

ok, i am at he library to buy a ticket to ohio for when hilger does his summer teaching. hilger is watching eisa so i was sneaking in a min. with you all.

Hey everyone! MDC was down ALL DAY yesterday! I missed you all!

Emmy, SO FUN! I love the pictures. Cully's got the CUTEST grin. We're taking Joey to her first Yankees game in September, when my friend (and rabid Yanks fan) is visiting. I'm not a rabid fan, myself. My loyalties lie with where I'm from. If I lived in Boston, I'd be a Sox fan, no doubt. The friend in question is from Wisconsin. I've got no CLUE why she's a Yanks fan. Seems random to me, but what do I know. I'm lookng forward to it, in any case. And I hope Joey does as well as Cully.

I found out the other day that my neighbors are moving. I am bummed, I really really like them. I am also apprehensive. Who KNOWS what will move in next. Anyone need to rent a house in central Jersey? Emmy? Grace? Anne? Bama? Anyone? Someone up for a move? Hmmm? Anyone? please? :

My mother is showing signs of wanting to be a grandma again. I was pulling into the "vehicles with infant" parking at the supermarket yesterday and I made mention that JOey's not allowed to grow anymore, since she's not "technically" an infant anymore and I wont' be able to park in the front of the store soon. Mom said, "Well, you could just have another infant."

She doesn't know that we're trying again. She knew we were trying with Joey and I kind of want the next one to be a surprise.

Re: spiders. Ick. I've suddenly become paranoid about spider bites (I've NO idea why) and then I read that Fey is overrun with brown recluses. Ick ick and ick.

Sha, my dh would be COLD AND DEAD before he would let us move ANY where near NJ. He has a serious aversion to any location above the Mason Dixon line... but most southerners do, yk.

Getting rid of the spiders - I am reluctant to spray nasty chemicals all over the house. I don't really mind bugs, well, not ants and nice spiders.. but venomous critters are not welcome. So, I could spray and have a house full of icky poison... or I could not spray and risk Elaina getting bitten, or me or DH... the spray only works by killing their food source supposedly. Other tips I have read on getting rid of them are cleaning clutter, which would be easier if I weren't scared of coming across them, getting rid of their food source (other creepy crawlies), and I've read breaking their life cycle works... which means getting rid of eggs before they hatch, making the house all sealed and vaccuuming constantly... which vaccuuming more would be good... if only Elaina didn't HATE the vaccuum Also there's glue traps, which I think we're going to start with first. Nontoxic, will keep them under control while we try to eradicate them... which I hope we can cause, yeah, no fun.

I was scared to get under the covers at five thirty when Elaina tired .


In happier news, I went to my first LLL meeting today! It was fun! Met some likeminded mamas and was invited to a weekly AP playgroup! I'm really excited. Also borrowed the book, 'mothering your nursing toddler' which I've been wanting to read.

Emmy - Cully is soooo cute, looks and sounds like you guys all had lots of fun!
