I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I'm coming up empty in my searches.
I'm wondering what has worked for other people for PMS. I don't have any physical symptoms that are causing me much distress; it's the emotional stuff! In the 5 or so days before AF, I am incredibly irritable, depressed, and occasionally downright suicidal.
Yikes! It's lately (the past 2 or 3 years) been much worse, though I don't know if that's due to aging (I'm 35), of if everything just shifted after my youngest (he's almost 4; PPAF when he was 15 mos.)
So, according to what I've read, lifestyle changes should fix this problem, but the changes they suggest, I'm already doing. I don't drink caffeine. I exercise 5-6 times per week. I don't eat refined sugar or flour, rarely eat meat (0-2 times/week), very rarely eat dairy (0-2 times/month). My diet is primarily whole grains, beans, veggies, fruit, soy, nuts. I drink lots of water. For supplements I take flax seed oil, a multi, and calcium (I read that extra calcium could help w/ PMS; it ain't doin' much for me!). I get enough sleep most nights.
What else can I do? I'd rather not take an SSRI, although I'm gonna get willing if I can't improve this situation some other way!
