Lynea Grace was born at 6:07 am on June 14, 2006, weighing 9 pounds, 3 ounces, 20 inches long, 2 days before her edd.
My water broke at 10:45 pm on Tuesday. I was getting ready for bed and thought I peed all over myself, but then it kept coming!! I was so excited and wound up. We went to the hospital with the understanding that if contrax hadn't started by 8 am the doc would check us and let us go through lunch. However, once I got to the hospital I started contracting 5 minutes apart. By 4:30 am I had only gone from a 3 1/2 to a 4. The contrax were starting to get intense so we went into the whirlpool. At 5:05 I started feeling the urge to push. I got out of the tub and was only 6 cm, but the contrax were hard and fast. The nurse called the doctor and 1/2 hour later (at 5:45 am) he arrived and I just had a lip on my cervix. I was really wanting to push so he reached in and pushed the lip out of the way while I was pushing so that I could push for real. I pushed for 13 minutes and her head was out (and my perineum was still intact!!). However, her shoulders were stuck on my funny pubic bone and he rotated her 180 degrees while she was in me to see if the other shoulder would come out. I was pushing for 2 minutes without letting up and the nurse was pushing down on the baby. She turned and slid out. For a terrifying 45 seconds she wouldn't breathe, but her cord was intact. Then they decided that she had to go over to the warmer to get her to breathe so they cut the cord and she started crying right away. Then they brought her right back to me because she was breathing, as per my birth plan. Her apgars were 8 and 9. I had a 2nd degree tear with the shoulder issue, my best tear ever.
She is beautiful. She was horribly bruised from her trip down the birth canal, but now she looks better. She has a cute stork bite on her forehead and looks just like my other dd's did. She has already brought my milk in and is nursing like a champ. We will post pics ASAP, hopefully tonight.
Blessings to all.
