I'm sending a donation via paypal today. Baybee

Dear intactivists,

ICGI plans to purchased an ad in the National Conference of State
Legislatures (NCSL) 2006 Annual Meeting Program Guide. The ad urges
state legislators to eliminate Medicaid funding of infant circumcision.

A link to a PDF file of the proposed ad is located at:

http://www.intactivist.org/ncsl/

The expected attendance at NCSL Annual Meeting is approximately
20,000. In my opinion the ad is a great opportunity to communicate
with key decision makers from state legislatures throughout the country.

The proposed half page ad will cost $390. If you would like to help
ICGI purchase this ad for the NCSL 2006 Annual Meeting Program Guide
please make a pledge by emailing me at <ncsl.ad@gmail.com> or make a
donation to NOCIRC using PayPal.

There is a button for PayPal donations to NOCIRC located at:

http://www.intactivist.org/ncsl/

If you link to PayPal from the NOCIRC web site, please add a note
that the donation if for the NCSL ad or let me know by email.

Donations to help fund the ad can be sent to NOCIRC at the following address:

NOCIRC
PO Box 2512
San Anselmo
CA 94979-2512

Please write "NCSL ad" on the memo line of check. All contributions
are tax deductible because NOCIRC is a 501c3 non-profit organization.

The National Conference of State Legislatures is a professional
organization for state legislators and members of their staff. The
NCSL 2006 Annual Meeting will be held August 15-18 in Nashville, Tennessee.

This year will be the fourth time ICGI has run an ad in the NCSL
Annual Meeting Program Guide urging state legislators to end Medicaid
funding of medically unnecessary circumcision.

Sincerely,
Jeff Brown

PS. It is okay to share this message with other intactivists.

I am not able to donate, but I did build that ad!

It's great, boingo!! I just showed it to DP and we are going to donate too. I think a full-page ad would be awesome, I hope they get enough for that.

Cool- great ad.

Another great ad would be one to insurance companies showing them how much they would save....

One step at a time though, huh.

So, who runs intactivist.org? There isn't much else actually on their site. Are they legit? If I paypal them money, will it actually go to this cause?

I think you make the donation to NOCIRC which is a very reputable organization. Thanks for asking. Baybee

Yes, they are - I know that a few "big names" are involved in this project including Marilyn herself. Jeff Brown is organizing, he heads up NOCIRC of California - Sonoma.

edit: now that I have a few more minutes to explain -
I built the ad last year, when they also solicited donations to run it. I have an actual, print copy of the program that was distributed at the National Conference of State Legislatures, so I know that the money actually went to putting the ad in the publication.
Last year there were 14 states in which Medicare did not pay for circ. This year, there are 16! :

Thanks for donating.

I know Jeff Brown's name and he is the "expert" on how to get the funding cut.
He has coached many people in other states on what to do to be effective.

So, it really strikes me as curious that I can't find nary a word about this ad campaign on either the nocirc website nor the igci website.

Baybee, thanks for starting this thread. So far NOCIRC has received $305 in donations and pledges for the ad.

Thanks to everyone here who has helped, especially to boingo82 for doing the artwork.

A&A, thanks for your comments. Last year I asked the webmaster of intactivist.org to host the web page because I thought it would be easier for me to update the content of the page at intactivist.org. The link to the NOCIRC PayPal account is new this year. Because of the PayPal link, now I think it would be better to have the web page on the ICGI or NOCIRC web site too. Today I checked with Dan Bollinger and he is going to add the web page to the ICGI web site.

The PayPal link goes to the NOCIRC PayPal account. The ad is sponsored by ICGI, but ICGI is not a 501c3 non-profit organization. That is why NOCIRC is receiving the donations. The confirmation email you receive from PayPal will have Marilyn's email address which can be verified on the NOCIRC Centers web page (on the NOCIRC home page, click "Centers & Affiliates" then "regional centers").

Thanks for clarifying that for us, Jeff, and thanks for all the integrity you bring to ending circumcision. Come on folks let's tip it over the top.

I am just seeing this today but wanted to say, WOW, great ad, great work to all of you! I follow this issue with great interest.

FYI... Dan added the Medicaid ad web page to the ICGI web site this morning.

http://www.icgi.org/ncsl/

If you live in one of the states where Medicaid still pays for non-therapeutic circumcision and you would like to help end Medicaid funding in your state, please send me an email message. I would be glad to send you information on how to help.

Thanks again for your support of the ICGI ad and thank you for all you that do to educate parents about circumcision. In my opinion the more people talk about non-therapeutic circumcision the more likely they will be to protect their sons from unnecessary surgery. This forum is a great example of that process.

I'm so pleased that we can come together as a community and, through everyone taking a part, fund pretty much anything we need. Thanks to all those who chipped in on this. I'm sending you prosperity hugs!
