It's a sad, sad world out there, isn't it?? Amanda, I just have to say, you are such a strong and amazing woman to keep breastfeeding, even with all your difficuties, and I hope you know that!!!! I had alot of breastfeeding troubles with Emma, and my inlaws kep trying to convince me to quit, but I wouldn't, and we had a wonderful nursing relationship for 14 months! Just remember all the good stuff YOUR babe is getting from you breastfeeding!! Mnay, many hugs to you, I've been praying that things get better!!

We are good here, I think Alayna's snotty nose is on it's way out! Yay!! The night before last she slept from 10:00 until 5:00 AM!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it! She is such a smiley babe, I am sooo loving this stage with her!!

We have her baptism on Sunday, looking forward to that. Trying to get everything done today, as I have the day off, and DH is home working on getting our lawn in. We purchased a sectional for our family room, and got that today, looks so nice!

Amanda-hang in there mama! You have overcome so much already and time flies so fast with these little ones that I know in a few more weeks you'll look back and be amazed at how much you made it through.

gnutter-wow! 14 lbs at 7 weeks! we may not be far behind Wyatt by then, since Rosie-posie is 11.8 lbs. at 4! I say hooray for big babies, though. I laughed when you mentioned the 10lb. 5 month old. My cousins have a 4 month-old, and she's still only about as big as Ro.

dharmama-I think a good response to the "when are you due" question is "when are you?"

Icouldn't believe how many people ASKED dh and I if we were trying sex to induce naturally when they found out we were overdue....I mean making a joke about it and laughing I understand, but ASKING....hello....AWKWARD!

Thanks for the CD suggestions. I think I'll try a little more airtime. We're using the Trader Joe's detergent that Green Mtn. dipes reccommended, and with a ll the extra rinsing and sunning, they should be getting clean enough...I hope.

When I was a few days PP and the rash first showed up, I had a meltdown/freak out that people would think we were bad parents for CDing...can you say hormonal?

Corina, I think I'll pay attention to some of the CD advice you are getting. Phoebe soaks through NB PFs too. Also, we're getting more poopy covers than I think we should, so I need to try some different folds or bigger diapers or something!

Well, it's 10:15 pm on dh's and my anniversary, and after a little (no baby!) dance, he's asleep and i'm on MDC man, with 2 kids, there isn't time for anything!! even though im' dead tired by the time they're both asleep i feel like i gotta accomplish *something* or i'll go nuts...

things are ok here...just 3 weeks after ds' birth while my IL's were visiting, my FIL was in a major car crash. he fractured his C1-C2 vertebrae and has been in the hospital over 2 weeks. yesterday he had surgery to fuse the bones (it went well). he is majorly, majorly lucky. most people who have this injury die or are paralyzed; he has some mobility in all his limbs. though it will be a long, long rehab road ahead, we feel confident he will have a good recovery. but needless to say, it has been rough on the homefront. dh goes up to the hospital a few days a week (1.5 hours away) taking our one car, and then there's all the emotional stuff...we've had tons of help and support though from friends, which has been great.

those who have chunky babies... we're in your club! ds is probably pushing 14lbs at 6 weeks now and we are totally out of all the 0-3m stuff. 3-6 is snug- 6-12m is loose but about right. so crazy!! what's up with teh sizing? he's all smiley and just cute, cute, cute. i am so loving the baby stage... and dd is doing great,all things considered. i am so impressed with how much she loves her brother nad i really see her being careful around him. i think they'll be great playmates.

amanda- i thought i would only bf for a year or so and i am still nursing dd once a day and she's 3!! hang in there... it's a long, rewarding road and to hell with everyone else who says differently!

Like others have said...ignore them. Granted, BF comments are some of the hardest to ignore. My SIL had me sobbing hysterically after her "you're pregnant so you really need to supplement with formula" speech. It wasn't so much that the things she said were toxic, it was the way she said them. To me it sounded like "you're not good enough for your son" although I'm sure that's not what she meant. I guess what I'm saying is, when you feel really passionately about something, it's hard not to take those comments personally.

The issue of the week has been breastfeeding.
How glad I am I'm doing it.
I've had several uneducated people tell me various crazy falsehoods(your milk will go bad if you sunbathe, formula has nutrients that breastmilk doesn't have( if you call heavy metals a nutrient...!). And I've been immersing myself in material like these forums, which are supportive.
But the best reason to breastfeed is how he locks eyes with me. And how after he's done he pulls off the boob and flings his head back down on it. And that I know that by trying to eat healthy foods myself, I am giving my son the most perfect meal he can get. The milk is tailored to him, is wholesome, and has the antibodies he needs.

In other news, he almost sleeps through the night. Yippy!
I have also decided to stick with just condoms for birth control right now. It kind of makes me nervous. I would prefer a more sure method like hormonal ones, bc they are reliable. But I am wary of the hormones as well. Since my dh is uncomfortable with our son getting any hormones in my milk, we'll just stick with condoms.
Then again, it may not be an issue, lol. My stepdaughter will be coming to live with us, so maybe any concerns about our adult alone time are unneccesary. Will see how it goes.

Oh for crying out loud! :

And one other thing I forgot about for diaper rash: breastmilk! Works great. A Lansinoh/zinc oxide combo's cool too (like Balmex, nothing with perfumes, and just a little rubbed in real well so that if you're using cloth dipes it won't make them repell.)

Infant PFs are a little more bulky and we had to move out of our XS ME covers and into size small but they are way more absorbant than the preemie pfs. I'm glad I had the preemie size for the last five weeks though as I have a lil peanut. Oh, the bikini twist cuts down on bulk in between her legs.. and I discovered I like Snappis!

That's all we've ever used. I've always been leery of hormonal BC, but a friend of mine almost died last year of blood clots caused by the mini-pill. She is on blood thinners that she may never be able to quit taking and she's not even 30yo. Granted, I know it's one extreme but wow I'd be heartbroken to end up on blood thinners and have to choose whether to keep bf'ing with drugs in my system or wean.

This could be an EARLY morning. Annabelle has been going to sleep for the night around 8:30-10:00 since birth. Tonight she was zonkerooney at 6PM! She slept until 8:45 and I thought I was in for a wide awake baby. She went right back to sleep even after I changed her into her footy pajamas... I HOPE HOPE HOPE she isn't cooing and laughing at 4am. She probably won't. If my gal is good at one thing, it's sleeping... and eating... and pooping 10 time a day... and being adorable. What can I say... She is multi-talented.

I'm lovin' the bikini twist right now. Not so much so at 1st as DS was pooping lots and lots multiple times a day and we kept having poop leakage with all that NB BM. The angel wing fold was great for those pre-chunking weeks, though we still had some poopy covers cuz his little legs were so skinny.

What happened to my 2-4 hours at a time napper? The last 4 or 5 days it's 30-40 minutes usually and boy can he get cranky! Ahhh, there he is now waking up. Yep, about 30 minutes.

Are any of you mamas going to the VS nurse-in in your area? I'm trying to see if I'll be able to.

Exciting news here... dd likes the pouch! Until now she didn't like it (only the Mei Tai) but I tried it today out of desperation because she was really squirmy but didn't want to nurse or need a diaper change and she was happy! Not only was she happy in the PIP, but I got not one, but TWO REAL SMILES.

well my chunky guy is 7 weeks and about 13 lbs....i'm exhausted as it is nearly midnight and he has been nursing off & on for 3 hours, but is finally falling asleep!!!! its sooo hot here, over 100 today so i think thats why fes so thirsty!!!! i hope he sleeps wel as im sure dd will be up around 7
