The FIRST time you ever thought about homebirth - Page 3

The NHS gives every pregnant woman a pack of information, which had a tiny little paragraph in there mentioning homebirth. I thought it was a brilliant idea, told my GP about it, who thought it was a brilliant idea, and my midwife, who would have caught my baby regardless of where I gave birth, thought it was a brilliant idea too.
Just lucky coincidence- I spent a night in hospital being monitored that pregnancy, and there is no way I'm ever setting foot in that place willingly.

I guess I had known for a long time that I would have my babies at home. I was really inspired by my best friend who asked me to be her birth partner when she had her son at home.

All my beliefs, feelings and desires for HB were confirmed when I was 26 wks pg with Isaac. I got rear-ended (the car was totaled) and a ride to the hospital in the ambulance. I could not eat (was really hungry), was laid flat on my back with a fetal monitor strapped to me for hours (which ds kept kicking off of him!), given an ultrasound, given an IV (by an incompetent tech after the nurse decided to remove the one the paramedic put in...). Yes, the list goes on and on, but I'll stop there.

My midwife was wonderful- met me at the hospital. DH also got to see how unpleasant the whole situation could be if our child would have been born in the hospital! Kind of ironic that I had many interventions I didn't want (and planned to avoid with HB) during the pregnancy but got my homebirth too!
