Is anyone else finding that, now that the Secret has been discussed on Oprah twice, they are hearing conversations about it that are very negative, seeing it bashed on the web etc.? I'm trying to think of how to approach that. And often the people who are bashing it haven't even seen it.

I guess one could use techniques for those critical of one's parenting...pass the bean dip (change the subject) or quietly say why you like it and move on...letting go of needing other people to agree with it.

Anyone else seeing this kind of thing? Or is this just my own self doubt? Maybe it's the retrograde.

I haven't seen that at all, myself. I would just seek to improve my life, and not worry about it. After a time, I think that negativity will go away if you give it no power, and you will find that if you focus on having positive and fun visits with these people, eventually they'll forget to have these negative discussions when you're around.

That doesn't mean it'll change when you're not, but at least you don't have to hear about it that way, right?

That's a great perspective, to find joy in my friends and the Secret and life, and not give the negativity any power.

Yeah, well I think it's easy to attack. I mean it's hard to take responsibility for things that go wrong. It can seem like it overlooks a lot of world problems. After seeing the movie I didn't really see it that way. There were things about the movie that I didn't like, but in the end it really drew me in, and I think it was very well done. I almost felt alittle more confused about certain ideas after seeing it featurd on oprah. I don't know- like it was a little more disjointed, b/c of the format.

Am I the only one that wasn't impressed with that person who sent the letter to the employer who fired her? I thought it was sort of passive aggressive- like the opposite of letting things go. But maybe that's me.

A friend showed me an article about The Secret in the LA Times. It was a properly snarky opinion about it. I won't even bother linking it because other than it snarkiness it seemed lightweight and thin to me.

My gut told me when The Secret was scheduled to go on Oprah that it would naturally bring out the neg-a-tors (which sounds like a power ranger). I think people are just scared to reach for their dreams and when others try....well, it is natural (i guess for some) to tear them down.
too bad.

Yeah, if I had seen the Secret eight or ten years ago it would have made me mad too. I attracted it at just the right time.

So, I totally just taught myself a lesson, ROFL.

Don't you love it when you're saying something to someone else, and it slaps you upside your own thick head? Well, probably not, I doubt others are as dense as me! :

Anyway, I was thinking the other day how I feel really frumpy lately, and I hate looking in the mirror and seeing that.

So I was just lecturing someone in another thread, "Well, if you don't want to see someone wearing old clothes and with unbrushed hair in the mirror, brush your hair and put something attractive on!"

And then I realized I really shouldn't be talking to myself in other people's threads.

I think there's a certain faction that trivializes anything that oprah focuses on, and I think it's easy to see it as another self help thing. I myself am not a fan of self help "gimmicks" with all its empty promises and steps, but I think the ideas behind the secret are much more genuine than that.

I've been in school this week and have missed so much I hardly know where to start...so I'm just jumping right in again.

I agree that for many hearing this message...especially a short little blurb on Oprah can really challenge their thinking. But, since thoughts become things....even hearing about it and discussing it from a negative point of view is still giving it energy! Which means more and more people are going to get it.

Sometimes it takes people awhile to get used to an idea.

Pre-kids....I thought that nursing someone who could walk was complete lunacy! When my midwives suggested I nurse to at least 1 year...I almost fainted. Then I had my babe, started going to LLC, became more comfortable seeing it and went with my own instincts. When the time came, I was comfortable nursing my 1 year old, then 2 year old and continued into the 3rd year with both kids. I couldn't make the leap at the beginning...but I certainly warmed up to the idea and got there eventually. Now, it doesn't matter how I got there...all that matters is that I did!

Too funny! That's why a huge part of my own learning seems to come from helping others. I'm sometimes amazed at the advice I give myself while disguising it as helping someone else!

yes!

It's much easier for me to give advice than to do it myself.

Let's see, how do we turn that around

We nourish ourselves first. We taking good loving care of ourselves.

I'm going back a little to the discussion about the Crystal and Indigo children because I was away during that discussion.

There is not a child being born now that doesn't fall into a category like this. All children now are being born with a higher intention, with a clearer knowing, with more intuitive skills, etc. Every child is being born into this higher vibrational frequency.

The fact is though, that it doesn't really matter so much...because as AP parents, we are in tune with our kids and just *get* that they need to be raised differently than many of us had been raised. And because we are attached, we know this. We have all been led to raise our children this way because we are in tune with this idea. So, it does not matter if your child fits a description or not....every child being born now is part of this higher vibration.

Exactly! When my son was a baby, I met a woman who was nursing her 3 year old. I thought she was a nut... until I found myself nursing a 5 year old! Sometimes things dont make sense... until they make sense.

As James Ray (I think) said, mediocrity attacks exellence.
