Way to go, MPJJJ!!! Here's to you! (or sparkling cider if you prefer! )

I watched the Oprah after show tonight, and this is my new favorite affirmation, which I intend to use on a regular basis:

I am available to more good than I have ever experienced, realized or imagined before!

I wasn't really actively putting a lot of energy into it like I did when I was trying to manifest a truck. But for starters, I looked up "veterinary assistant" google images, and found a picture of a person who was wearing scrubs, holding a cat. The picture was from the neck down, so I just concentrated on that picture and imagined it was a picture of me. I couldnt print that picture out, so I just would picture it in my mind and make up little false memories of what I was doing when that picture was taken, and how happy I was so be doing that job.

I tried to get myself out of the slump of saying "I'm just a mom who has been home for 7 years, nobody will want me" to believing "being a mom has given me an advantage, I'm the best person for this job, and I would make any employer happy to have me."

So I just wrote up a letter, not even a resume, just saying who I am, the experiences I have had, and that I've been a stay at home mom for 7 years. I wrote that I am honest, reliable, and great with computers. (Thanks to the hours I've spent logged onto MDC!!!)

There werent any jobs posted, but I decided to have DH fax my resume in anyways. Within 2 hours of sending the fax, I had recieved a call from my *boss!!!* asking me to come in for an interview the next day.

So I went, and they asked about my kids and my life, and I was honest, and they actually told me they like moms!!! They said "we love moms because they are great at multi-tasking and they are used to really gross stuff." So being a mom turned out to be an advantage, just like I had believed it would be!

Apparently they had been looking at resumes for a while but turned down applicants because they werent who they were looking for, but they were impressed with me, so they're gonna give me a go! The best thing is that I am going straight to training to assist in surgeries, and it's something I've always wanted to do!!!

Another thing, that I didnt mention because I didnt know if anyone would even believe me, is that is not the only job interview I got that day.

That morning I recieved a call about an application I had just put in at a portrait studio, and the lady is driving 2 hours to meet and interview me! I gotta find that number so i can thank her but decline. I am just absolutely in shock. 2 opportunities in one day! All I could do was say "Thank you for the incredibly opportunities that have been presented to me!" and instead of feeling overwhelmed (well, I am a little, LOL) I said "I am grateful that I am able to be overwhelmed by these wonderful job prospects!"

I just, wow. I never imagined that these great things could happen to me. I think a big part was that I didnt think I was worthy of these great things. I slighted myself for being 'just a mom' when being a mom is a pretty amazing thing! When I changed my direction of thought from "nobody will want a stay at home mom" to "employers will appreciate the experience I have gained from caring for my children" it became an advantage.

I didnt mean for this to be a novel. I'm just so excited, and grateful. Even on the drive to the interview, where I felt like I was hyperventalating a little, I would change my thought from "what if they dont like me? what if I dont get the job?" to "I am grateful for the experience of having this interview. I am grateful to get this opportunity to meet interesting people." So even though I was nervous, I made a real effort to change my thoughts and feelings from anxiety and self doubt to gratefulness and excitement. And I truly believed that all of this played a real part in landing this job.

I start Monday, and I have never been more excited than I am now!

Thank you so much for your "novel." It's so inspiring to me that you had plenty of doubts, but still thought and did positive things, and that you didn't have to be "perfect" to manifest what you wanted.

What a GREAT story!

MPJJJ, I think it was really great that you wrote all the details. It gave me some personal tips for practical exercises and some inpiration AND there is no way i am the only one that this will help. so YOU GO GIRL! and THANKS!

So, I really wanted the house clean. And I really wanted to have time to get some more done on my book.

But I really didn't spend any time focusing on it, which I think was the mistake I made, LOL.

I manifested falling on my stairs, so now I have a backache and don't feel up to cleaning house or dealing with diaper changes...

So dh is staying home today to clean the house, and he'll be bringing me dd to nurse, doing diaper changes, and otherwise just helping out.

I've never enjoyed a backache so much in my life.

(Though next time, I think I'll manifest it sans backache...)

Wow. That is so incredibly cool!

I have been lurking on this thread for a while, since discovering The Secret recently. I always knew about the secret (I've had a friend who has been trying to get me to "get it" for years and I finally heard the message when it was put into such easy to understand terms!) but for some reason I thought it was only for certain people, not me.

Well, since discovering it a month ago, I have paid off $22,000 in credit card debt, I have $5000 in the bank, am expecting another $6000 in the next month, and even discovered I overpaid the dentist by $200. They are sending me a check! My marriage is a thousand times better, my 3 year old is going to bed easier at night, my relationship with my family has improved. I get it!

MPJJJ, your post really inspired me to have the confidence to contribute to our family income. I, too, am a stay at home mom, formerly a self employed graphic designer. I know I have all the skills I need to earn money but I have been struggling with confidence after being out of the workforce for so long. I am going to work on this, starting today! Thank you.

Sheesh, Amris, that's an extreme way to get your house cleaned!

DH's back has been bothering him for a few days and this morning he said he was thinking of staying home, but then decided to go to work, anyway. Well, he went out into the wet slushiness, and a little while later came back in... He had wrenched his back badly while cleaning off my car (which was totally unnecessary) and he immediately called work to say he's staying home, and he's been lying flat on his back, finding people to cover his gigs this weekend, and putting ice on his back... I wish he'd just decided to stay home! Oh, well.

Is there a SWITCHWORD for reaching for feeling empowered and safe, instead of worried and anxious about an upcoming situation?

To win in a competitive game-FIGHT.
To upset an opponent in such a game-FIGHT.
To display pep and sudden energy-MOVE.
To solve a problem-REACH.
To prevent a person or action from annoying one-CANCEL.
To obliterate a negative thought-CANCEL.
To dispel a worry-CANCEL.
To handle anything unpleasant-ADJUST.
To stop faultfinding-PRAISE.
To retain good feeling or sense of well-being-STRETCH
To dispel nervousness-BLUFF
To dispel conscious fear-BLUFF.
To preserve personal safety-GUARD.
To develop courage-SWING
To lose inferiority complex-UP.

So it looks like CANCEL, BLUFF and GUARD are what you need, but thought I would include all of these potentials since there were no details of the experience you are going into. HTH!

Still not through the whole thread, but a little more than halfway!

I got my copy today (it's playing on the TV as I type), and just as I read the quoted line above I looked at the TV. Can you guess who was on and what she said???
