That's why it's so good that there is so much out there. What speaks to one person, falls flat with another and vice versa.
Definitely. I really enjoy A-H but have less positive feelings about the Secret.

They are wordy though as a PP said! I like the Art of Deliberate Creation because it has some workshop transcriptions in the back and it's their workshop work that I like the best, along with the processes.

I missed it and wasn't able to set the recorder, for some reason.
I read a little of the transcript this morning.

Did you see it?

I thought Larry King was good. First of all they separated the panelists which i think was good-----it made it more each person's thought... and they answered all the naysayers...which I think was timely.

I missed that. Could someone tell us how it was? Is there a link about it somewhere on the web? I'd be interested...

So far I haven't seen a link to it. But I'm guessing this site will have it. They seem to have a lot of the tv shows with stuff related to The Secret. They still have the Larry King show from November, if you scroll down. And if you keep checking back, I'm sure the new one will show up (I don't know how long it generally takes).

10 Steps to Unlocking the Secret

The Secret thread is so long, that I thought I'd post this as a new thread.

BeliefNet has a little 10-step presentation on "The Secret" that some may find interesting:

Hm, you were probably prevented from experiencing it because it just didn't match your good vibration

Seriously, I think it's hardly worth getting involved in. A lot of people are just not ready to understand it, so they're rejecting it: because of the level their vibration is at, they can only perceive the negatives of it (attempt to make money), not the positives (empowerment). They just expect disempowerment, and so that is what they see.

The bigger this stuff gets, the more people it reaches: some reject it, some understand it and use it in a way that works for them. This is perfectly consistent with what the people in the film teach anyway, so there's nothing wrong with this happening.

That is a really great synopsis they posted on there. I do think in their ask, believe, receive that they missed taking action. You have to take action also, it's not just delivered to your door.

Except they did say that sometimes action is required.

They also said, "the how is the domain of Spirit," regarding the silliness with people who want to use it to win the jackpot at Vegas. Um... that's not letting Spirit figure out the how, bub! :

Wow.....I had no idea it was getting negative press. hmmm I just read the one thread about Oprah and The Secret.

Ive been in bed with the flu this week.......but dh just told me that on Bill Maher last night they were talking about the SECRET with Deepak Chopra, and they were saying in essence that its all about material gain, making money etc etc. I think they are taking one element of it and blowing it up as what is all about. I didnt get that at all in the 20 or more times Ive watched it.

Dh said that Chopra has a new book coming out.......that sounded interesting. But he said he had some interesting points to make about the secret. Im going to watch Bill Maher myself tomorrow, when Im hopefully feeling better.

Deepak Chopra has a problem with people being profit-oriented with their spiritual products? Now that would be the pot calling the kettle black. (If I understand correctly. If he's taking issue with people using the loa primarily for material gain, that's less ironic but still somewhat.)

Personally I feel that the film is more marketing-heavy than I prefer, but virtually everything is that way nowadays. It's not exceptionally so by today's standards.

ETA: And the only reason I'm giving it any thought is cause I'm currently in a negative state myself... I wanted to complain to DH about it but he just pivoted... darnit!

Ok....just watched it.......

Funny you should say that about Deepak.....bc one of the first things he said to Bill was that he's a prophet, P R O F I T........ got a big laugh, but then he went on to say that as humans, it is impossible for us to be positive thinkers, not natural for us. Then the rest of the team starting saying how the Secret is all about American Greed. That all the secret is saying is think positive and youll have everything you want.....without action.......which proves they havent read the book or watched the dvd, bc thats not what it says.

Does anyone think its become that? Ive seen people in these seminars and thats all their focusing on is the money aspect. I have friends that are using it to make money........

Again I say......thats not what I came away with when I watched it. Maybe cos I have the Aussie version of the Secret. ?

People see what they want/expect to see. If their primary focus is on material stuff (which is the case for much of our society) then they're going to really spot the moments that talk about material gain. If they're viewing the movie after hearing someone drone on about how it is all about materialism, then they're going to look for proof of that stance.

There are 10 chapters in the book, and one is about money. Doesn't seem too slanted to me. <shrug>

I'm listening to The Secret audio chapter on money, and thought I'd share a couple of comments from the various teachers:
-Jack Canfield says "when you have inspired thought, you have to trust it and you have to act on it".
-James Ray says you need to take action (can't find the exact spot now to quote/paraphrase it)
-Marcy says many people go for wealth, but what they really want is happiness. You need to reach for happiness first, and then wealth will come.
-James Ray says money is not wealth; you need to go for balance in your life, and money is only a part of that.

There's more, but those are the ones that jumped out at me in light of this conversation about materialism and the idea that The Secret doesn't speak about action.

Also regarding The Secret being about money/material things:

I was listening to the James Ray Masters of the Secret audio a day or two ago, and he said (paraphrasing) that while it's not all about money, it's easiest to use money and material items as an example because it's measurable.
