Dying wood?

Okay, I've made a set of blocks and dyed them with food coloring then sealed them with a salad-bowl type oil. They look REEALLY good. But my next set I want to dye naturally...any instructions on what to get and how to dye them??

Thanks!

I would try
1) ONION Skins or marigolds for yellow
2) black walnut hulls... a very good chance with this one!
3) "tea" dying
4) pokeberries or beets. (The former is not lightfast. And the later I have never been able to stick to wool. But might be worth a try with wood?)

This wouldn't be dying, but you could use milk paint. It has more of a stain-look on wood, but would be great and is non-toxic!

I think turmeric and blueberries are supposed to be good too. I had a link to a list of plant based dyes on my other computer, I will try to remember to look for it tommorrow. I thought I knew of something that would make a greenish color but I can't remember right now.
