It's newly married (on my daughter's birthday!) Chris Gunst of The Beachwood Sparks and The Aisler Set's Jen Cohen. They've been called "a perfectly crafted blend of psychedelic hip-hop and sunshine folk-rock". Super chill and super fabulous.
Sounds AWESOME need to check them out!! Got a link?

Saw BSS on Friday along with Do Make Say Think, who BTW, were really good. Totally instrumental. Anyway, BSS put on a great show. The venue was perfect. Only 2 of the women were there....I think Julie and Leslie? Anyway, it was so nice to go see a good show locally.

Lazy~ Have fun at BSS tonight. Kiss my lover for me!! :

Last night I went to the Elected and Margot and the ...... Pretty good show, in a very small venue! I can't believe how many shows are finally finding their way here.
Anyone heard of Band of Horses? I didn't know this, but a friend's brother has recently joined the band and they're moving here (Charleston) from Seattle to hang out and record. I'm hoping they see fit to play a show or two while they're here.

I am glad I found this thread! Couldn't read all 34 pages, but did anyone mention my alltime favorite The Spinanes? or really anything on Kill Rock Stars in the mid-late 90's.
I am really "out of it" but found a few more recent groups that I like via the "but I'm a cheerleader" soundtrack. Hilarious movie, as well!

Hey Kathleen!

So, the BSS concert was pretty great. It was a little silly. It was the last show of their year-long tour so I think everyone was a little loopy or drunk. The lead singer kept talking and talking and talking and thanking everyone under the sun and making the audience chant things. After a while my friend and I were like "just shut up and play already. Sheesh!" : Overall a big thumbs up from me though.

Now I am loving Micah P. Hinson & The Opera Circuit. Have you guys heard this CD? It is sooooooooooo freaking good.

I remember a while back we were talking about good kid's music. Can ya'll tell me how the hell I missed the Curious George soundtrack done by Jack Johnson? I am so totally in love with it and my dd's are too!!!

mmmm....drunk or high or both. yeah, their show here was a bit marred by sound problems. they were laughing at themselves b/c they said this far into their tour they skip soundcheck. :

i have no idea how you might have missed that one. it's been a favorite here for ages!
has anyone read ((sm))all ages? it's a great blog by a mama who's into indie music and while she usually writes about kids music, she sometimes chats a bit about non-kid indie, too.

so, i still have to send out my 80s mix. there's been TONS of craziness around here for weeks so hopefully that'll die down soon and i can get those chompies out!

Maybe this should be a different thread, but since there hasn't been much action around here for a couple of days. . .

If you are in a relationship or married, do you have a "song"? Ours was Foo Fighters Everlong. I don't really like Foo Fighters, but I do like that song. On dh's wedding band I had "breathe out. . ." enscribed inside the band.

(The song says, "Breathe out, so I can breathe you in.")

Nice. I love that song. To me it sounds like a Lee Ranaldo Sonic Youth song. :

Our song is "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by the Beach Boys! It played at our wedding right after we were married and walking down the aisle together.
