Finally consoladated my student loans!

I'm not saying how *much* student loan debt I have. No. But I did, ten days before the deadline, consoladate my loans at a low interest rate, and I don't have to begin paying until I am done with school.

This has been hanging over my head for months, and I finally did it today. I feel good!

YAY! DH just did that with his loans, too. For some reason, even though he signs the checks every month, he didn't realize exactly how much he was paying.

But now, because he consolidated, we will have an extra $450 a month!!!

Three years of "playful" nagging on my part finally paid off!

I definitely have to do this as well. I've been procrastinating, mostly because I think I'll go to consolidate and they'll yell at me for being irresponsible : .... yea, I know, my imagination sometimes interferes with real life.

I just never thought I would be in this place at 23! I'm genuinely embarrassed by the financial choices I've made. :

did you consolidate through us dept of ed or another loan company or what? My DH will (hopefully) be graduating in December with his PhD and 13 years of loans between being a freshman and getting the masters and then close to 7 years for the PhD is going to kill us. I am just wondering if you had a great consolidation program or what!?!
