Flood the poll! Though it looks like it's been around for a while so maybe most of you already found it.... circ is winning though

I was trying to figure out how far ahead dd is in motor skills She climbed up 8 stairs yesterday and is barely 7.5 months old : That's the only reason I was there! I had to see what their circ info was because I'm a masochist like that...

Voted AND told them that in Europe we don't do or even understand circ. So there. Think it'll come as a surprise, or maybe they think it's Mars over here?

Folks, I don't think it's a very good idea to try to warp the results by voting multiple times. I for one would love to know what the real statistics are on circumcision, and I don't think there's any place to get them. I am positive the hospital release figures are significantly off, and there's no other source of data. Of course, because this isn't a random sample, it's not really accurate either, but it at least is a picture of a cross-section of people who have computers and small children.
What is very positive is that more than a third say they didn't circ and that the circ rate for children of this generation is well over 10% below the circ rate of the fathers. That wouldn't have been true 20 years ago. I would not be surprised if this poll, by the way, doesn't include a number of non-Americans. I think the circ rate for the fathers is quite a bit lower than it woudl be in the general population.

??? Nobody said anything about voting multiple times till you mentioned it I hadn't even thought of it till you just now put the idea in my head I just wanted those who hadn't seen it before to vote. I meant flood it with votes from here that may not have ventured to BC, not flood it with tons of votes from each of us Usually they fix it so that you can only vote once per IP address or something like that.

Here is what they say about circ (just a little sample!)

Quote:
When should a circumcision be done?
Make it early, if at all. ..... Rather than having it done in the delivery room, wait 24 hours or a few days. But delaying a circumcision until your baby is older than a few months can be traumatizing.
What nuts! I have never heard of "delivery room circ" Still, there is no benefit (that I know of) to having the genital mutillation done in the hospital, rather than at the 2-week "well baby appointment" Why are they suggesting it should be done at the hospital???

And a comment from one of their readers ... itallics mine!

I did not think too much on it when I was pregnant, I just knew I was going to have it done; besides with all the complicated decisions like trying to figure out what nursery design you want, clothes and bottles you want to buy, and whether or not to breastfeed, a simple yes or no question like circumsion really doesn't stick in a person's head.

I think that poll has been there a very long time. I voted but I think I may have already voted a couple years ago.

every hospital I know of does it within 24 hrs of birth, right before the baby goes home. Around here, they kick you out within 24 hrs of vaginal birth.

I cant imagine.....ugh.
