I'm so livid!! I had been out shopping with my mom in Boston's Fanuel Hall and DD(9 mo) was starting to get upset because it was time to nurse. She has a VERY hard time nursing in crowds. She's easily distracted and gets upset. It had probably been about three hours. I had planned on stopping in VS anyway to look around, but I knew she needed to nurse and shopping with a hungry infant won't go well.
So, the employee comes up to me and this is the exchange:
Her: Hi can I help you
Me: Yes I wanted to know if I could use your changing room for a moment.
Her: (looks at DD and says hesitantly) Oh, to change her?
Me: No, to nurse her.
Her: Well, actually there is a bathroom right across the way there.
Me: (Disgusted look on my face) I'm not nursing her in the bathroom. Would you eat in the bathroom?
Her: Well, it's just that lots of women are changing in there and well, it's unsanitary.
Me: (Literally stood there, jaw open staring at her for a good 10 seconds) Are you telling me that my breastmilk is unsanitary?
Her: It's just store Policy
Me: Actually, I believe VS was recently in the news for denying a nursing mother the availability of a changing room to nurse (or told to leave). I believe the company made a public apology.
Her: (stammering) Well it's just store policy
Me: People will be hearing about this...(walks out of store)
During this entire exchange my DD had tears streaming down her face, eyebrows bright read and nuzzling my chest. I tried once more to nurse her outside, but she just wouldn't take to it. It's so hot there and can be very crowded. So, I worked on trying to get her to fall asleep in the sling...which she did.
So, what do I do from here? Obviously write Corporate, but should I attempt to organize a nurse-in? Any other people in the Boston area more experienced with this than I am? Thoughts?
In hindsight I shouldn't have even said what I wanted to do. I should have grabbed a bra and headed for the changing area. OR, when she said what she did, I should have grabbed a bra and said, "Then I'd like to try on this bra."

: I wonder how they'd take it if you came in while engorged (baby not hungry) and tried on every bra in your size with the milk squirting all over it. "Oh, I'm sorry, I'd love to stop, but I was told that your store policy is not to allow breastfeeding."

I would *try* not to accidenly "spray" her
