Couldn't nurse at VS (Boston) today because it's unsanitary!! Update Post 40 - Page 5

An aunt wanted to buy me a pretty bra after one of my children had quit nursing. We went to VS...explained that I needed to be sized as I had been nursing for sometime and knew that things had changed. The Sales clerk gave me a funny look and asked if I was "fully done nursing" and was I leaking anymore. Sure, like I was asking to be sized while I still had milk...

I'm so sorry this happened to you! Please bring your story to the Statehouse, where the Judiciary will be hearing Senate Bill no. 75. They need to hear testimony like your story to move the bill forward. Here's the info.

Dear Friends and Mothers,

I personally am making a strong request for your support. Action is
needed immediately- no later than 5pm tomorrow! We supported the
Midwifery bill, but we're not done yet!

Tomorrow afternoon the Judiciary Committee will be hearing the
Senate Bill No. 75 AN ACT PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF NURSING MOTHERS.
This bill has been written to protect and ensure the rights of
breastfeeding mother and babies, both in public and in the
workplace. As many of you know, I have personally been
discriminated against for nursing my baby, Loren, in a public place
and at work. It is likely that a number of you have experienced
discrimination when feeding your children also. So help make a
statement in favor of the health of our babies!

Read the pending bills here:

HELP IS NEEDED BEFORE 5PM TOMORROW

Please take 5 minutes from your day to do the following:

1) Please call your State Senator (in General Court) and Your State
Rep TONIGHT and leave a message letting them know that you hope they
will support these bills because breastmilk is the best nutrition
for infants and there are benefits to the child, the mother and
society by encouraging and enabling mothers to breastfeed their
children. Look up your state senator and rep here:
http://www.wheredoivotema.com/bal/myelectioninfo.php
2)THEN, please leave messages for the Chairmen that will be hearing
the bills. These are the guys that decide if the bill will sit or
move forward. Here is their contact information:
Eugene O'Flaherty 617-722-2396
Robert Creedon 617-722-1200

3) LASTLY, ask any supporters you know to please do the same! The
four very brief phone calls may help to change the world we live
in. Many other state have passed similar legislation and we can to,
but we have to make ourselves heard before tomorrow!

Please help these bills to move forward and ultimately become
law!!! If there is not enough support for these in the next 24
hours, the bills may fail altogether and that would be a huge
injustice for mothers and babies everywhere

Timing is everything in the judicial process, please act now!

That's right! MA is voting on the NIP bill today, aren't they?

And that message is from yesterday, right? So when it says "tomorrow" it means "today," right? And when it says "tonight" it means "NOW," right?

Yeah, that's supposed to be today. I hope it doesn't get bumped back again. I called my three area reps to urge them to support the bill, I really hope this thing passes. Of all the states, you'd think MA would already have a bill like this on the books.

According to the other thread, it's not Senate bill 75, it's House bill 1782.

I just called and asked for H 1782 and I was told they were reviewing it today. Ask for a favorable review..... we don't want it to go to a study.

So unless it is both bills...

I just wish I could find the text of the bill....

MA Senate Bill 75 and House Bill 1782

Folks,

You can find the text of these at the following:

House 1782:
http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/hous...df/ht01782.pdf

Senate 75:
http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/senate/st00/st00075.htm

It's about time MA joins the ranks of states that support nursing mothers. It's unconscionable.
