They will be answering your questions about BFing

we should send tons of questions to why the US turns its head to formula marketing and ask why OB's and pediatritions aren't trained in lactation.

I sent this in

Why is it that I can find more information on breastfeeding and its problems, solutions, and support on the internet than I can find from my OB and Pediatrician?

Wow, what an interesting opportunity to educate the general public about BFing!! I really hope it is handled well and FF is never given as a viable option.

Is it worth pumping if you have trouble breastfeeding?

nahhhh. I've just been doing it for fun for the past 11 months.

don't get your hopes up mamas. no matter how great the info is they give, at the end it will be all "But in some cases, mothers choose to ff, and that's perfectly fine too!" they wouldn't want to alienate the vast majority of women in this country.

Here's what I sent:

Why is there so little medical support for breastfeeding in the medical community? Why are so many pediatricians so eager to recommend early weaning for moms & babies with breastfeeding problems? Why are there so few referrals to professional lactation consultants? If artificial milk supplements are medically necessary, why don't doctors and nurses recommend using a supplemental nursing system (SNS) or tube at the breast? Why aren't more hospitals participating in the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative?

Why are hospitals marketing formula by giving out "breastfeeding bags" that contain cans of formula. Hospitals should market health and nothing else!

I was just wondering, does anyone know WHO is going to be answering the questions?
I too sent them some questions. I was thinking though, that they probably won't read ours, since they would be considered too "extreme" for them to read. Maybe they will though, we will see on Monday!

Here's mine:

"Why does it seem like medical professionals, including pediatricians, are only given a cursory education in breastfeeding when incorrect information given to a new mother can completely destory a breastfeeding relationship? Many seem woefully undereducated whereas they should be one of the premier sources of information because of the close relationship with both the mother and child, don't you think?"

Though in hindsight, I probably should have just asked "How much education to pediatricians get on breastfeeding?"

Meredith Vierra? : Oh wait, wrong show. I'm sure they'll get someone equally qualified though.
I asked a question about the education of health care professionals on breastfeeding, too.
I also asked about the education of the heathcare "professionals" and also why in america is breastfeeding not the norm? and by many looked at as not natural.

She's on the Today Show, I don't know if she's started yet though. But remember ladies, Meredith said that she would nurse a monkey, so she's on our side :

My question (that I didn't send, but thought about), why aren't the ladies on The View educated about breastfeeding? Maybe if they didn't talk down about it so often, they'd have more viewers (and maybe not discourage those few women that LISTEN to them!).

But I did ask why pedi's aren't educated about the value of BFing past one year. Every pedi my kids have been to all recommend one year. Beyond that and they have all given me that, "What the heck?" look. Grr.

If they did that, they'd be out of business.

I sent in questions similar to pps.

Why is breastfeeding not the norm in the United States when both the WHO and AAP have recognized its benefits for both mother and baby? Why are mothers so uninformed about the benefits of breastfeeding?

Thats what I sent. :
I figure if we're not so "radical" maybe they'll actually address real issues...he** who am I kidding...we're just nursing nazis for even trying to nurse :

My question I sent in :

Just wondering why low income mothers are given free formula instead of being encouraged to breastfeed?
