Aha! So we DO live in backwards-world! I thought so...

That is NUTS.

But hey...good for you for talking openly because you never know where planted seeds will grow. Someone may not even have realized that a homebirth is an option.

I really didn't know my choices 15 years ago when I accompanied my sister for her hospital birth. All I knew was that I did NOT want to deliver my babies that way.

Thanks for posting these truly jaw-dropping remarks!!!

When the other moms at dds preschool found out I was planning to have my twins at home they kept referring to me (to my face) as "one of those natural women." Which I guess makes them artificial women? One woman also said, "Oh I know all about that. I used to live in California."

I have been : here for quite some time as I have only had hospital births. We are ready : so hopefully I can join your pregnant and hb club soon!
I have been telling people that I want to homebirth next time since it will be our last baby and everyone looks at me like I have 3 heads! There have only been a few babies born around here at home and they have all been accidently born at home. I can't wait to show people that it can be done and that it is safe!
Everyone says that since I became a Doula (over 4 years ago) that I think that I know it all about having babies. :
I tell them, "no, since ever since I have became a woman I know how to birth babies". Shuts them up everytime!

: again!! Do you look at them, totally innocently, and say "Does that make you artificial?" : You should!

I say all the time, "Yeah, I'm kind of a hippie" when I talk about anything NFL before people have a chance to say it behind my back. No apologetic, not snotty, just aware that I know my choices are better and confident about it
