my name is savannah and I have had a couple of people say something about that porn star. what a shame...
it is a great name and I love it. It was my grandmother's name and her grandmother before her.

It is a great name!!! So feminine and regal. I've told DH that I won't be responsible for everything that his gender corrupts.

OMG Colleen, that is priceless!!

arismomkoofie, you make a good point about how the spelling of a name can help avoid mispronunciations. I've tried thinking of a way to spell Annika differently but can't really come up with anything good. (Love your dd's nickname by the way.)

I think I'm going to have to come up with a new favorite, since the only people I could count on to pronounce Annika the way I want are Scandinavians and Star Trek Voyager fans!

EVER since i was 6 years old and saw "gone with the wind", i have dreamed of naming my daughter Scarlett...If you look the meaning up, it means, woman of an impure virture or skank as Dh says..there also is a strip club by that name a county away..I dont care though, I love the name and everyone i shar it with loves it also....DS was the fourth in lineage so there was no searching for a name in that one! I strongly believe this is a girl...havent discused names with anyone because i think it still to early.... but here are my choices

girls

Scarlett Haydee ( greatgrans name)
Chloe Laura (mil name)
savannah

boys

OK, so I think we've narrowed the names down to 1 girl and 1 boy choice.....

So what do you all think?

For a boy: Alistair (or maybe Alastair) Diego
For a girl: Vivian Alejandra

Everyone around me thinks I'm having a girl and I'm starting to agree with them. DH said to me the other night, "I know what I want to name our daughter."

"London"

I think I like it. London. I like London Skye W.....Ayla's mn is Star and I'd like there to be some connection there between the two girls, you know?

I guess the only thing that bothers me is........well.....I've never been to London, England. Never really aspired to, either, 'cept maybe for some fish n' chips.

London Skye......hmmm.

BTW- I LOVE the name Savanna. That's my 9 year old sister's name. Savanna Rae. We call her Nanna a lot of the time, because that's all my little girl could pronounce for a long time. Or Savanna Banana.

I didn't even know there was a porn star with that name. I guess I need to watch more porn. :

My mom named her Savanna from an old movie titled "Savanna Smiles" or something like that.

Also, Savannah, GA is a totally groovy place. I LOVE that city and wish I could go back.

Samantha - LOVE your names!

I am pretty sure we have decided which is really weird for us to know this early in the game but I really feel like these names have come to us

Quentin Frederick - Quentin means 5th born in Latin and Frederick is DH's deceast Grandpa.
Julia Katherine - Julia just because we love it and it is easy to spell and Katherine is my Mom's name and my confirmation name.

Keri

These names are great. I love them all!

We aren't even thinking about names. I'm still stuck on Twyla for a girl. No one else likes it.

No possible name for a boy. I HOPE we can tell with the u/s about the gender because otherwise . . .ack.

This is the first time I have had names picked out since prior to even TTC. For a boy it will be Joshua Irvin. Josh is just one of those names to me...never met a Josh I didn't like. Irvin is my grandfather's name on my mother's side. Both my parents claim he is the nicest man that ever walked the earth, so I figure 2 good names with a good history for me. I have thought of maybe Irvin Joshua instead, but he would still go by Josh either way.

For a girl it will be Catherine May and we will call her Catie. I just love the name Catherine and I was almost Katherine, but my parent's chose Sara instead. My mom has always said if I had a little sister her name would be Katie, so maybe she has just influenced me over the years!!! May is my great grandmother's middle name on my mom's side. My mother has such fond memories of her "Nana".

She almost cried when I told her my names, since both these people died before I was even born, it was really special to her that I picked them.

Ok so last night I got my girl's name. I have not run it by my dh b/c he doesn't want to talk names until the last couple of months. Eden Dawn. Dawn is my middle name and my SIL's. I really like it. Now I am not so sure if I like the boys name I had, Ethan Alexander. I still might have to work on that one.

My DD's name is Gabriella, but we all call her Gabby.

I was thinking Tabitha if baby is a girl, we would call her Tabby or Tabby Cat.

Would it be cruel or cute to have Gabby and Tabby??

Tika, with similar nicknames like that you'd probably end up calling them by the other name all the time! My grandmother named her 3 sons all very similar names and they never got called by the right name until she had cycled through the wrong ones

I have to go with the majority on this one -- plus, if you were yelling up the stairs for a kid, they'd never be able to tell who you meant...

I'm likin' Helena right now, but dh says he's pronounce it "Helayna." :

Ok Grapejuice mama, you arent going to believe this but today we agreed on London as the middle name for our girl. If she is a girl.
How freaking weird is that??????
Our Sofie's middle name is Paris so we thought it would be kind of cool to use a city name again for a middle name. Only problem we have with it is that we, like you arent really fond of the city itself...but London is definitely on the list as of now. And the list is short. Really short. We have decided on the first names for sure-both for girl and boy.

The name London is beautiful. All these names are great! I love MDC because I'm surrounded by such creative ladies who appreciate unique names, find beauty in old-fashioned names and love names that have special meaning.

I've been hoping for another boy, but now I'm not so sure because I've found a beautiful name for a little girl. Carys Lily. I believe Carys is pronounced 'Kerris' and it means "To love."

If it's a girl I want Prudence Olivia with the nn Poppy. My DD's name is Liberty. . I'd kind of like her to be tempered by some Prudence.

If a boy Henry Oliver. Henry was my Pepere's name.

Keri that's so neat! I have a 6 yr dd that was placed for adoption at birth - and that is her name!! (It's open adoption so I get pics and letters, and she knows who I am) I love the name!!!

Thanks to you all for your honest opinions about the Tabby and Gabby deal. Going back to the drawing board.
