His dad is getting out of the navy!!!???!!

My ex is in the navy and has been away since we found out i was preggo. My DS has seen his bio dad maybe 4 times in 4 years . He doesn't really know who he is. When we got divorced(DS was 9 mo) i moved from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh to live with my soulmate and i got preggo with DD 6 months later. We have a really nice life here and i never had to worry abt my ex taking ds from me since he was in the navy. But now he is getting out in Oct. I don't want him to take DS from me. Will i have to move back to philly since that is where Ex is going to be living? Is it possible to do 50/50 long distance? I don't want to split my kids up! helllpppp i just need some opinions!

you will not have to move back if you don't want to! has he said he wants to be involved in your son's life? the normal long distance thing is the NCP gets every other holiday and a stretch in the summer.. but you can work it out however you want.. do you have custody papers already stating you have full custody?

No you don't have to do anything. He has been uninvolved for whatever reason, it makes no difference. If he wants to see his son, he can move to where you live or take the long distance visitation. I wouldn't worry about it. Unless he's some horrible guy it will probably be a positive thing for your son. Yes there will be some adjustments but in the long run it will be worth it if they develop a relationship.
