I posted this in Finding Your Tribe, too...a friend of mine is considering a homebirth and needs recommendations for a midwife. She lives in Wauseon, OH, which is about 30 miles west of Toledo.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I know there are midwives in Toledo -- I just don't know them well enough to make a recommendation.
She is about 90 minutes from Ann Arbor and maybe 70-80 minutes from Ypsilanti, and there are quite a few of us in that area. I really recommend Amanda Topping of Riverside Midwifery. She has helped me out a few times and I like her a lot. She might also be flexible with payment. I own Trillium Birth Services and would consider her if she were a first time mom or didn't have a history of fast births. I recently helped a mom who was about 70 minutes from my house and hired a more local assistant, and it worked out fine. You can find contact info for Michigan midwives and I think one Toledo practice at michiganmidwives.org (under the directory tab).
Good luck!

Check out the Midwife, Doula, Childbrith Educator section. I know there is a group up north that can tell you who might be in your area.
I am in Ohio as well, and basically lay/direct entry midwifery, is sort of a "underground" practice, and will take some digging to find a midwife or two. It has taken me 2 years...but I have now found the right connections and might be doing a homebirth this time.
Still cannot decide and I am 25 weeks. I really want to...but my house is such a mess, that I am not sure I can get everything put together to do a waterbirth at home, with two small children already running around and tearing everything up.
I also have to deal with potential in-law issues if I do.
