He's here!! naking for the first time: ten perect fingers and ten perect toes. It was a straight forward home birth that lasted 12 hours. Bastion was caught by daddy at 346pm weighing 8lbs even 21 in long and a champion nurser already...my nipples are so sore. I will post a detailed birth story later....love you all, hang in there moms who are still preggo.

*birth story*

Like most of the other mommas here I was getting restless to meet my baby so I took some action and went to the local nail salon and had a spa pedicure with hot stone massage. The lady took like an hour rubbing my feet. 3:30/40 in the morning I woke up thinking I had lost control of my bladder but it was my water that had broke. I changed and tried to get back to sleep but baby was hungry and I had to eat something, I chilled out for a while, trying to go back to sleep but watched the time fly (suprisingly). I called my midwife at about 7am and told her I was having contrx every 5 mins. I let dh sleep and told him when he got up. I was pretty much content dealing with the early contrax alone. MW came over at 9, talked to me about what was going on and how I was feeling. She had to go do a 24 hour visit for a baby she had just delivered the day before, she would be 20 mins away and to call if the contrx get stronger or more frequent and to take a nap while she was gone. Nap? Yeah right, as soon as i nodded off I would be hit with a contx, then I would have to pee and have a contrx onthe toilet then go back to bed and nod off and start the whole thing over agian. DH came in to sit with me and called the MW when I was 3 mins apart and not able to really talk through them. DH is such a champ. He spread out the drop cloth and got my birth ball for me and stood there not knowing what to do to help other than watch and wait. MW got to the house, set her stuff up, we blocked off the bedroo from the dogs, and my body took this as business and got down to it. MW checked my cervix and I was at 7 with somewhat of a postier lip. The need to push was taking over me but I had to breath and grunt through them so that I didnt push aganst my cervix and really hurt myself. About an hour later she checked again and I was at 8/9 cm. I had been laboring on my hands and knees the whole time, rocking my pelvis back and forth, side to side and in circles to help the pain. Our dogs were very concerned about mommy and they crawled into their kennel to wait for it all to be over. I edventually moved to the new Amish made birth stool that my MW had just gotten. DH crawled behind me on the bed (I was leaning against the bed), the contrx were incredable and over powering. I couldnt help but let my body take over and push. MW checked again and I was cleared to go at 10cm. I think I pushed for about 45 min to an hour and at 3:46pm DH caught his son who let out a lusty cry announcing his arrival. Our dogs were at the door wagging their tails and whinning excitedly. It was the most amazing experience in my life. Totally drug free homebirth, straight forward and text book perfect. The only probem we are having is the terrible pain while nursing, but that is even getting bettersince my milk came in last night. The dogs think that he is the greatest little pup and are always there to reasure him when he cries (when he's getting his diaper changed or when he relizes mommy isnt holding him), they are such good dogs.

I love waking up next to DH with our son in my arms the dogs at our feet, its such a perfect family I couldnt be happier.
