Boston Lactivists Update:6/25/06 Sticking with a single nurse-in at VS on JULY 1st

*****Update******
After speaking with several experienced nurse-in lactivist mamas, I was advised to stick with the single VS nurse-in on JULY 1st at 1pm. It seems that two seperate nurse-ins are causing some confusion amongst people and that the legislators might just see us as a bunch of radicals. I was advised to push for the mamas here to call your local

rep. Call several times if you have to. Write emails to your friends and ask them to call. Every call counts. Tell them that you support bill 1782 We'll also be setting up an online petition.
So, Please take a moment to sign the petition, support legislation to permit breastfeeding in public in Massachusetts - and then pass the link on to five friends!

I sincerely apologize for any confusion. This is my first time really getting my hands dirty with lactivism and I'm doing the best that I can. I don't want anyone to be confused and I really would like to make the maximum impact. I hope everyone understands. Thanks for being so patient!

i definitely think this would be a good thing!! this bill needs to get passed. I'd rather nurse in for this than the store honestly.

i may be able to make the trip down to Boston for this. considering i am in Mass. alot, its important on a personal level to me too (although every state is impt. to me...i just cant travel to California for a nurse in).

one question i have...do you have to nurse at a nurse in? what if your baby is not interested in nursing at a nurse in? (mine is so easily distracted and im finding he doesnt like to nurse in large crowds).

this is a great idea! its crazy that a liberal state like mass. does not have law on its books!!!

Front page, Snooter! DH has the paper right now, but I can't wait to read the article! I'd like to show my support, if I can. Let me know what Linksy says, we'll try to work something out.

I was so shocked to see it front page. It was front page on the actual paper itself in Big Bold Letters! I, obviously, haven't heard from Linsky's office and doubt I will before Monday. I've thrown out a possible date of June 29th to several moms to get some feedback. I'll definitely come up with something concrete VERY soon (it has to be very soon ).

I've never been to a nurse-in before. Iwould like to go but driving in Boston terrifies me LOL. (Im in Southern NH, right by Nashua) Would we be doing it right downtown? :

next week would be great for me too since i will only have the baby with me (other 2 sons are on visitation with dad and they are always more difficult to travel with to something like this than the babe is).

this is getting a great response!

Either June 29 or June 30 would be GREAT for us!

I'm loving this...I will be THRILLED if we get that legislation up and running!

Tell me the time and place, and I will be there!

Sounds like the 29th is working better, but we could do the 30th too.

Keep posting! As soon as there is a set date and place we can start spreading the word! Great article!

Hi Jess!

The reason I thought the 29th would be good is because it gives those politicians and the media enough time to cover us, read about us, think it over. But not too far in advance that it's forgotten, kwim? The more moms the better! I'm very excited by the show of support. Spread the word!

And, after speaking with several moms, it sounds like morning time might work best for everyone. Like 10am-ish? Does that gel with everyone here? If the overwhelming majority say no, we can obviously adjust it.

Cool, whatever you decide I'm good with-- we've got some time to spread the word and modify plans. I'm reading multiple board coverages of this and I got my details mixed up when I posted--- I knew there was a reason why the 29 is a better date.

BTW, what a wonderful picture of you and your daughter! And I just read that it was front page in the paper!

I DO hope that I'll get a chance to meet you in person some time, I know we are on a few of the same groups, just have never met irl!!!
