Things that your kids do that you adore...

I thought it was time for a "what I love about my kid" thread and think it would be fun to share things that our children do that make them, well, them.

There are two things that ds (5.5) always does that I just absolutely love (well, more than 2, but I don't want to be here all night):

First, he always has a song going in his head about anything and everything. He's just like my mother in that way (I remember her turning everything into a song when we were kids.). The thing about ds is that pretty much everything that goes through his head comes out of his mouth, so he's constantly singing and he's completely uninhibited. The other day, we were in the video store and he was singing a song at the top of his lungs while perusing the movies. I just had to stand and watch him for awhile. It was so freakin' cute.

The other thing he does that is so indicative of his nature is dote on babies. Everytime we're out and he sees a baby, he gives me this mooshy look and says, "What a cute baby, huh mom?" And if he can get close enough, he's all about the baby. Hugging, kissing, trying to make him/her laugh. It melts my heart.

So, now you. Tell me about the neat little things your kids do that make you wish you had a video camera on them every second of the day.

One of my favorite things about my 8 YO DS is how, when he's tired, he'll rest his head on me & say "I love to be with you like this mom...don't tell anyone I said that!" That's a combo of & !!!!!

One of my favorite things about my 6 YO DS is the way he "dances" to cheer anyone up!

One of my favorite things about my 4 YO DD is, believe it or not, how ADORABLE she is when she pouts! :

One of my favorite things about my 3 month old DD is hearing her belly laugh!

I adore that whenever my 19 mo sees a dog she makes the dog sound "woof woof" and when she sees a cat she says "neeeeow!" (Yes, with an 'n'. )

I adore that my 3.5 yo has started attaching the phrase "I guess" to her narraitve in very random fashion. For example, she'll say, "I'm going to go outside now, I guess."

I adore that my nearly 19 yo is starting to see things from my perspective and is not shy about telling me so. For example, the other day she said, "I can see now that ______ [former boyfriend] really is too needy and clingy just like you tried to tell me, and I can't stand that anymore."

I love the way my 15 mo gives me little presents - rocks, sticks, goldfish crackers - with a very serious expression on his face.

I love how he grabs my finger to point at things when he wants me to name them, or grabs my hand and pulls it toward things he wants me to open or close or fix for him.

I love how when we rearranged the living room while he was with my in-laws, he came back and walked around pointing at all the things in different places, going "ooh! ooh! ooh!" with big, wide eyes.

My 14 mo old loves birds, so whenever she hears one her head swivels around, she points and says 'ooh ooh'. Whenever she sees a bird, she gets very excited and both hands are used for pointing. The best, however, is when we take her in the bird pet store. I didn't know babies could get *that* excited.

Aah. It makes me happy just thinking about it even though she was a pain to get to sleep tonight.

I melt when my dd smiles at me. I know, simple and corny, but so true. That kid could melt a heart of stone.

Awww - I love this thread.

I love when my dd jumps in my lap and kisses me for no reason and how she rubs my cheek to wake me up in the morning. I love that she talks about her dad all day long and the look on her face when he walks through the door.

My 5 month old has just started sucking his thumb and it nearly kills me when he's fussing and then finds his mouth with the thumb, starts sucking and his eyes roll back in his head and close.

He also will be sitting in his laundry basket and if I turn at him and say something he gets really excited and squeals and laughs and waves his arms.

Two days ago, he reached for me when he was crying (it broke my heart).

Oh, there's so much more, but I'll stop..

I have a five month old too! And when she sees me and smiles her big crooked gummy grin, I know that it's ok that I may very well never get a full night's sleep again

I like this thread

I love it when my 3 year old DS stops what he's doing to come give me a hug and tell me that he loves me. Sometimes he will say "I wanna tell you a swee-ket (secret)" and he'll whisper "I love you" in my ear. It makes me cry every single time. (my eyes are welling up just thinking about it).

Love this thread!
Ok there are sooo many, but just off the top of my head, I love when my 5 year old tells me I'm a princess. So sweet!

Awwwwww...Jilian...you just made me cry!!!:

My favorite things about DS right now...the way he crinkles his little nose when he smiles/laughs and how he has *just now* started to let himself curl up and lay his head on my shoulder when he's REALLY tired. I could go on but those are the two things that really make my melt!!!

my dd gives what we call kitty or puppy kisses...she takes her nose and rubs it upward on your arm, face, etc. at the same time she makes this little sucking noise with her mouth....it is very cute.

The way my baby will look at me, sometimes grab my face, and kiss me with big open mouth...OOOMMMMWWWWWAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! he actually says oomwah!!

My 13 month old: How he giggles with glee like we share some terrific secret just before latching on to my breast.
My three year old: How he is so tender and loving with his baby brother, especially when he accidentally knocks him over running past. He willstop, kneel down and hug him and murmur "Oh, I sorry Bay!"
My 5 year old: How he speaks so obsessivly meticulous, just like me. "Actually mommy, I need to take a rest to conserve my energy right now."
