? about plugs and show

Since I never had either with DS (I just went right into labor one night), I was just wondering if there is any kind of amount of plug or bloody show that was "normal" or not? I had my membranes stripped on Thursday to try to get things going because although my Pre-E seems to be holding stable for now, the mental and physical gymnastics I'm going through to keep it this way are startign to drain me. AND, since some of the requirements are modified bedrest, that kind of goes against walking around much or other activities that might help labor along (unles it's already started, ya know?)

So anyway, I got stripped/swept on Thurs, and since then, I've had 5 or 6 occasions of brownish tinted goop when I go to the bathroom, probably a couple teaspoons' worth each time....now I know it doesn't necessarily mean anything unfortunately, but was just wondering if there is a limit to the amount of this goop that might be coming out, or if it might just continue until I'm in actual labor...

I've also started having contractions irregularly but sometimes fairly intense, that will come and go if I'm upright sittign or standing, but go away after laying down...but since I'm not supposed to be on my feet for more than about 30 min at a time, once I recline to get my feet up and keep my BP and swelling down, then go away. :

Anybody have any ideas or thoughts? I'm really glad the Pre-E is stable right now (cause it keeps me out of induction land), but I'm not sure how much more protein, staying off my feet, and lukewarm baths I can take (I know, it sounds kind of nice, but it's driving me : ). Whine, whine, whine.

Thanks, ladies.

I've read that Mucus plugs could be as much as 1/2 a cup of mucus. So it's usually alittle over time or all at once. I've been loosing mine for the last couple of days (3 days in a row so far). I also know that loosing a mucus plug could mean hours, days or even weeks before babe is here. Crossing my fingers for you and me that it doesn't mean weeks... And yes, You could continue to loose it until your in labor.

The mucus plug regenerates itself, so it might keep coming. I lost a huge plug all at once at 37 weeks, which got my hopes up. Lost another HUGE plug all at once at 39 weeks, thought this MUST mean something. (by huge plug I mean about the size of a small wine bottle cork.) Membranes swept at 40 weeks, a week of goop that sounds like what you have, swept again at 41 weeks, just lost another huge plug today, nearing 42 weeks in two days, and nothing. Still waiting. (this is #3 for me - never lost a plug or had any sort of show with the first two.)

I've come to the conclusion that there is NOTHING that you can count on to be a sign of anything, short of a baby's head making an actual appearance!! I swear it's nature's way of making us WANT the pain of labor!

Hi
Just popping in from Oct/Nov DDC ... just had to check to see if my friend, DonosMommy04 had posted and sure enough .... I'm thinking about you and I really hope this babe gets her soon too! I feel for you and wish I could help you out more with advice. I barely remember spotting at the end with my first, I'm sure I did. (I hate having such a bad memory you'd think I'd remember all details, not) So keep your head up just stay positive, though I know it's hard ... the babe can sense your stress. Maybe take a time out, call the inlaws to babysit and have a date with DH. Even if date is just lunch today and a drive through a nearby park. (since a long walk in the park may not be best or do walk for 20 min) All to clear your thoughts and get refreshed! Hey go for a pedicure!

I'll call you later and I'm with you this babe better come soon!

Sending positive vibes your way!!
