Imaginary friends your kids have... or that you've had?

Most kids imagine that they're playing with other kids or animals some of the time, but did you or any of your kids have an imaginary friend that hung around for a long time?

My dd has an invisible nocturnal zebra named (of all things) Spot, that lives under her dresser. He likes cheese. He's been there since last fall.

According to DH, my BIL (as a kid) had an invisible squirrel that followed him around, and once gave his uncle a heart attack because BIL screamed at the top of his lungs when his uncle was about to sit on the squirrel.

What about you guys?

Sounds like she could be an MDC mama! Too bad she isn't real!

I had an imaginary friend although I can't remember her name. My brother had an imaginary friend named Peter-Up when he was little. Peter-Up was around for a long time until one day Sean declared Peter-Up had moved to Hawaii and we never heard of him again

My oldest had a whole step family and two two brothers Sam and Jacob. When she was in preschool they had to draw a picture of thier family and put the ages of their siblings. She drew herelf, her little sister and Sam aged 22. Her teachers got a kick out it! Oh and they also moved from our neighborhood and went to China. Whenever we were in the grocery store and she was trying to get me to buy something that I normally don't she would tell me that her step mom buys it for her all the time and we wold have a whole conversation about the things she can do at her step mom and dad's house. If anyone over heard us talking they would think that she had a whole other family. She outgrew it about a year ago.

My dd1 has a friend named Daisy. She changes from a little tiny fairy that fits in her hand to a grown-up, depending on what she's doing/playing/needing at the time. Once, Daisy was Daddy in disguise.

DS (almost 5) has had an invisible friend named Colin for almost 2 years. He talks to Colin on the phone, Colin spends the night and he can often be heard talking to Colin when he's in bed. We don't know anyone named Colin.

My son has had "Max" for about two years now. Max is named after the main character in Where the Wild Things Are & is about the same size as the picture in the book. He is quite naughty. One of his favorite tricks is to climb up to the ceiling fan, only to get flung off by its rotation. He has a mother - MaxMama - and a little brother -Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.

My son used to have an imaginary friend named Nana. He said that she was an older woman with long red hair(the same colour as mine).... the weird thing is , my mom died when I was a baby, and looked as he described. Then the name Nana... it was interesting! My youngest hasn't had one yet.

DS, 3.9, has had an imaginary friend named Higgen since just after he turned two. Higgen slowly gains detail and consistency over time, along with imaginary companions. We now know that he is a grownup, is married to DS's other imaginary friend Wella, and they have a little boy and a baby. Evidently they live on Mars and come here in a rocket ship to visit. They have a "hill house" -- sounds kind of like a hobbit hole or something when he describes it.

There are several other invisible people who visit us, too, and they all tend to have increasingly elaborate backstories as DS gets older.

That name makes more sense then the name Spot for a zebra!

Ds who just turned 3 this month, has an imaginary "baby". His baby accompanies us everywhere. Now, all of a sudden, he has two babies. The names change frequently, but he is in a 'baby' stage. He is fascinated by babies and often tells us he wants us to have a baby for him. When we ask him if he wants a boy or girl baby, he gets frustrated, and says "NO, I want a BABY". I guess at this age, to him, babies have no gender.

My DD had an imaginary friend named Mustang Sally.

My daughter had an imaginary friend named Amaly (NOT Emily), and she used to call Rain on every pay phone that we passed. So, of course, Rain would need to stop and answer the phone and have a little chat with Amaly before we could move on... and in areas with many pay phones, this became a bit time-consuming.

My little brother had imaginary friends named Pinky and Bulls-Eye for years. My little sister had imaginary poodle-dogs - Pink Poodle-Dog, Green Poodle-Dog, Rainbow Poodle-Dog. She could have started her own kennel. Our family always had Australian cattle dogs (heelers), so maybe she wanted something a bit fluffier.

Dd (5) has an imaginary dragon that lives under her bed. Her name is Eleanor, and she had two moms named Strawberry and Raspberry. Then, one month Strawberry died....and the next month Raspberry died. So now we are all the family she has. She sometimes describes Eleanor as her best friend (even tho dd has lots of IRL friends).

my little sister had one. it was slimer from the ghostbusters. (you know, the green ghost/monster thing that gets everything messy) she'd play and talk and bring slimer everywhere.
