Oh I'm completely aware of that.. but not everyone watches the news and I have found little information about gatherings here in the San Francisco area. So, for all those people that are not aware, would printed fliers be a good idea?

I sent the press release to three local news stations and two major newspapers. I've also posted the press release (and the Victoria's Secret/Breastfeeding is NOT a crime blinkie!) on Craigslist, in the babies&kids section, asking that they please not flag it because it's so important and listing the local locations where nursing mothers are gathering. So far, so good...it hasn't been removed. Other mommas might want to consider craigslist as well.

Darn it! No Victoria Secret stores nearby to nurse at for me....I want to go to a nurse-ins sometime, but they are never up here.

Will Craigslist let you run the posting if you avoid using the words "breast" or "breastfeeding"? What is their objection if you just use the word "nurse" as in "nurse-in"?

It has to do with the fact that the baby&kids forum is realy for 'for sale' postings only, not community events.

Yeah, except that people post in there for playgroups and all sorts of other community family friendly things and no one seems to mind! :

What about posting it in Craigslist's Politics section?

I just tried that in the Milwaukee craigslist, we'll see how that goes.

Yeah, I just went back and posted in the Parenting Forum as well. That should be nice. I expect to get tons of comments about how stupid it is. I hate mainstream boards, avoid them like the plague actually.

I posted it on the CraigsList events section in Portland, Oregon.

My youngest weaned a few months ago, so I can't actually participate in the nurse-in. But my sis is talking of going shopping this weekend, so I will make it a point to be at VS at 1:00 to support the other mamas, and will send out the release to everyone I know.

I'm proud of all of you.

I wish I could be there! I'll be traveling tomorrow but I did write a note to the customer service email.

I'll be there in milky spirit!!

Anyone have a list of chicago locations or nearby suburbs that people are planning to go to so I can pass it on to my other lactivist friends??

Holy Cow!!!

If you want to take a look at the parenting forum on Craigslist you will see the response that is going on. Amazing. :

It's listed in Denver.

Hi Everyone,

Previously I posted about Senate Bill No. 75, but I just got off the phone with Marsha Walker, of the Massachusetts Breastfeeding Coalition. Apparently, it is House Bill H1782 that needs our support, not Senate Bill 75. This is what she sent me regarding the bill that will be heard today, from the Statehouse:

Hi Marsha,

After the radio silence, I finally have some news on the breastfeeding bill, with unfortunately short notice. The Judiciary Committee is expected to take action on this bill. They will either report it out favorably for a House vote (what we do want) or put it into study (what we don't want -- bills put in study are seldom resurrected for consideration). Today would be an ideal day to contact House Chairman Eugene O'Flaherty and Senate Chairman Robert Creedon of the Judiciary Committee and urge a favorable report for the bill. It's H1782, An Act to Allow Breastfeeding in Public.

House Chair Eugene O'Flaherty: 617-722-2396
Senate Chair: 617-722-1200

If you get in touch with other advocates who wish to make their voices heard, you can also urge them to contact their state reps. I know your rep is Alice Peisch -- you can feel free to call her, though she definitely knows that this bill is coming up and is supportive. We'd love to have the Chairmen of Judiciary hear from as many breastfeeding supporters as possible today.

Sorry for the short notice, we only just found this out ourselves.

State House, Room 473F

Please take a moment to forward this information, and sorry about the mix-up!

Thank you,
