On a better note...Judah then slept for 6 hours so I was able to get some sleep and I feel better today...I am worried though...I don't think I felt like this with ds#1....I don't know whether to say it is ppd or just lack of sleep and the baby wouldn't settle down...

Ok...enough rambling here...
to you, mama!! In my own experience, I wouldn't say it's PPD, I think it takes a bit to adjust to having another baby, whe3n you're used to one, and it's hard to get to know this little being that you've carried for 9 months, ya know? I would be willing to bet that 95% of us have felt the exact same way, I know I did. And I do think that not getting enough sleep plays a HUGE role in that too. Hang in there mama, it will get better!!!!!!!

Hi, everyone. I haven't been posting as we've been busy having fun in the sun and getting into our new routine, but I check in when I can! Hugs to all the mamas that are struggling through this transition with new babes and for those dealing with other challenges.

We're doing great here. Iris is up to 10 lbs at 4 weeks and sleeps great and nurses great. Still dealing with transition with our 2.75 yo dd1, but that's going better every day. And she's using the potty!

Of course, Iris is now awake...talk soon, mamas.

ETA: For those of you dealing with PPD...please check out the "a true natural remedy?" thread in the PPD board.

We are doing well here - as one of the late May babies who decided to wait until June, Käthe is only 2 and a half weeks old. We are just starting to get into a routine, more sleeping and less pooping at night. (The night feedings don't bother me, but that pooping every 10 minutes for an hour in the middle of the night just kills me.) We are mostly over a cold that the whole family passed around when Käthe was just a couple of days old, though she's still a bit snuffly. She's up more than a pound from her birth weight, though still not as big as dd1 was at birth. We may get a longer run out of some of the newborn clothes. I am really glad that this babe turned out to be a girl - a boy would have been wonderful, but I feel like I know how to do girls, and I am glad to get another run through all the girl clothes. (I don't think that MIL has gone shopping once without getting something for dd1's wardrobe, so I have tons of clothes.) As it turned out, my dds' birthdays are only 5 days apart, so everything is the right season.
Käthe just woke up, so there goes my internet time. Take care everone.

Hi ladies! Whew! I am worn out! I've finally been getting some stuff done around the house and that feels pretty darn good lemme tell ya. Oh bless you dear Moby Wrap....

Little Milky's sleeping for longer stretches again now, 2-4 hours. I put him in this thing and usually it's like a narcotic for him or something.

I started to feel the beginnings of being burned out today, with him not really napping and being cranky a lot over this past week from the micro naps. Finally got a wee bit of time to meeself as DH had the little chunkster sleeping on him today for one of his naps. I'm feeling a lot better, though I feel kinda guilty b/c I haven't really been able to spend much adult time with DH. We've talked about it and he understands, I just don't want him to feel neglected KWIM.

Ack, personals next time, the wee one is up and fussin' for feedin'....

hi everybody! thanks for thinking of me, max. i've been lurking, trying to keep up with everybody, but haven't taken the time to post an update lately. for some reason, i've been spending my computer time playing the free game trials on bigfishgames.com. in fact, i've downloaded so many that they've gone from giving me a 60 minute demo to just 30 minutes. i'm too cheap to actually buy them.

anyway, we're doing really well around here. today is finn's one month adjusted birthday. my mil and her mom came to visit and we went out book shopping. mil is throwing finn a library party in a few weeks (we never got a baby shower) so we wanted to see what we would get for him. it was nice, because gmil sat w/finn in the bookstore and i got to browse. usually when we go, i'm stuck carrying him around b/c he doesn't like the hotsling and it's kinda hard to browse for books one-handed! gmil hadn't seen finn since he came home from the hospital and the second she came in the door she headed straight for the bathroom to wash her hands and then sat talking to him for the longest time. i love this woman! she was so delighted to finally get to hold him.

so i think i'm gonna sell my hotsling. i wanted to like it, but ds just can't seem to get comfy in it. also, who was i kidding, but after carrying a messenger bag for so long and always having a sore back because of it, i really need something that distributes the weight evenly over my shoulders. so i'm thinking a baby hawk mei tai, but first i'll have to come up with the funding.

i'm still trying to get the hang of cding. i have a bunch of hand-me-down cpfs and various types of covers, as well as some fitteds. our main problem right now is that that he either wakes up early from his nap b/c he's wet, or sleeps the entire time and totally and completely soaks the cpf. also, i only have one cover that i really like. so i guess the next order of business is to get some doublers and a few more covers. does anybody have any specific covers that they really like? the one that i like is the bummi's super whisper wrap.

at the last dr appt a week ago, finn was 8#12.5 ounces, which was a 1.4 ounce/day weight gain over the previous month. so by now he's probably 9.5#! my little bitty guy is getting so big.

ending this now before i ramble on for another few pages. :

^^^I don't dig my hotsling either like I thought I would...I do however LOVE my babyhawk...I say go for when you get the $$$$$

I like the MotherEase Airflow covers (snap covers) but if you really like the Bummis SWW, you'd probably like the MotherEase Rikki wrap too. That gives you more options if you're watching for them on the TP.

I like LiteWraps the best. They fit Phoebe well and I like that they have gussets in the legs. I have found I don't like snaps; they aren't adjustable enough.

We are at a funny in-between stage with diapers. The infant pfs get soaked too quickly and the next size up doesn't fit in the wraps that fit. The NB LiteWraps still fit, but the smalls don't yet. I have a few doublers, which help, but I guess I should get/make a few more. DH decided he really like the one Bumkins AIO we have, so I bought a bunch of mediums on eBay that she'll be fitting into in a few weeks I think.

andiflipping--Just wanted to offer a hug. I've had a LOT of days like that (although they get fewer and fewer). It doesn't sound like PPD to me (not that I'm an expert). I think it's very easy to get overwhelmed at times and cry, particularly when baby is unhappy and you're exhausted.

We had a first yesterday. I peed with dd in the sling. :
Ah, the things you never imagined doing before you had a baby...

Go Amanda! You're right, the things we do.

Well, things here are good. Grant wants to eat all day long!! I feel like my body can't keep up. He's always starving, making me feel like I'm not giving him enough food. Mama's guilt I guess! LOL

We have an appt. for him to see the Ped GI on the 12th because he has symptoms of reflux and has a really hard time pooping. He won't go for days (which I know can be normal for BF babies) BUT you can just tell he has to go and it's just stuck. He grunts and grunts until I have to be mama kitty and help stimulate him to go. I feel so bad for him...

DD is doing better, just not listening. I must be a push-over. Nothing in life has ever (or probably ever will) listen to me! That includes my pets and now my kid(s). What the heck is wrong with me?

All in all, things are smoother than I expected them to be. Hooray!

If I don't post more, hope everyone has a great remainder of the week and a safe 4th of July!!

i'm amazed you made it this long w/out doing this!

it's very rare that i'm in the bathroom alone. my 2 year old still asks to nurse sometimes when i'm trying to pee. and sometimes it's just easier to nurse her than negotiate with her so i do it.

OMG! Me too. Except my mom's dog and my MIL's dog listen to me but only because my mom's dog is a gentle, obedient Sheltie. My MIL's dog (a really disobedient spoiled Boston Terrier) only listens to me when I get "that tone" and possibly because I'm a Beeyitch and I think he's scared I'll eat him or something.

When we get a dog, I totally want a Sheltie since they are people-pleasers. At least that way someone in the house will listen to me since the kids don't and neither does the cat.

I can't believe the 4th is less than a week away!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure dd1 was only a few weeks old the first time I had to nurse while pooping. I remember thinking that this was a situation I had never anticipated!

Seriously, how is this possible? I can only nurse with two hands (and a couple of pillows, ideally). I can't imagine how you even walk while nursing, let alone do anything else!
I don't think I have been to the bathroom by myself since my son was born almost 7 years ago. HAHAHA. That is a bit of an exageration but not by much. My 2 yo (who comes in every time if I don't want her screaming and banging on the door not condusive to a BM) insist on bringing me my mama pads and helping me snap them on. Hopefully this won't scar her for life.
NYCVeg- It just takes alot of practise I even do laundry and vaccum etc. while nursing. Necessity is the mother of invention?
I had to do that once too Kat... we had eaten out for lunch and in the middle of nursing dd I had that awful gaseous feeling and had to run to the bathroom with the runs. I walked fast towards to the bathroom while simultaneously trying not to go in my pants, nursing dd and nudging the bouncy seat to the bathroom doorway so that I could lay her down to wipe when I was done. :

Motherhood has a way of creating ingenuity.

haha, we're posting at the same time anakna, and basically posting the same thing!

I HAVE to sit or use 2 hands to nurse - one to hold the babe and one to hold my GIANT boob - which once upon a time was a perky big boob, but has now decided pont itself at my toes.

Ahem. A boob job is defintely in order after I am done nursing DS.:

So just like that, DS changed! Today - he had HUGE growth -

•he didn't cry in the car - a MIRACLE
•he sat in his bouncy chair while we cleaned DD's room and read stories.
• he sat in it again while I bathed DD and actually blow dried her hair!
•he took a nap in his AMBY and NOT on me! for 40 minutes! And I laid him down and he just fell asleep.
•I laid him down again very sleepy but awake in his amby at 7:30 and after 30 minutes of my bouncing him, he fell into a deep sleep - with no tears.

WOW. That's all I can say. I hope it keeps up!!!

DD has also been wonderful - an angel. She only had 3 or 4 emotional 4 year old outbursts today.

Days like this are just heaven.

Ahhhh, the 1st time I went to the loo while wearing my babe, good times... :

Max I'm glad things are settling down for you guys. Sounds exhausting!

Kristina my heart just melts when DS smiles at me.

Amy DS is trying his hardest to get his roll on. Gosh, already!

Erin I have been feeling the trifold lately as well. My guy is such a super pooper though. When he goes, which is now every other day, it's usally a doozy and tends to escape the PF no matter what fold I'm using. Though the Prowrap and the fact that his poop has thickened up now keeps everything inside. Ahhh, I love discussing my babe's poo, yep, I'm a mama!

Amanda, seems like things are getting better little by little?

Ouch Corina : , I hope you're feeling better. And I find that the twist is actually better for the rash that Milky kept getting on his inner thigh. I try and do lots o' air time for the booty. He loves it, although he usually pees on me at least once. I tend to catch the poops, yay! I suppose this is super lazy, EC by default that we're doing.

Taisa my wee chunkster was waking up every 3 or 4 hours like clockwork in the first few weeks. I could've set an alarm by him! Now he sleeps 4 and 5 hours at a time when he finally goes down for the night, anywhere between 10 PM and 12 AM. He nurses a couple of times a night and gets a diaper change or two.

(Back to finish my post. Had to give my punkin' a bath, the nursies and then put him to sleep. )

Cheryl Sayon's like that the majority of the time. Looooves to be held, especially for sleeping. Just more yayness for my wrap.

Erika, welcome to MDC! : I hope you've been enjoying. Maybe you guys will get a bit of relief from the heat soon. We enjoyed a relatively mild day here in the A. for most of the day. Even got to open the windows and patio door!

Michelle you guys are so having another one in a few years. I just know these things.

KRS I hope Eli's congestion is getting better. Receding hairline, too cute.

I'm sending you big, huge, giant hugs andflipping.

Yep Angela, I'm loving the less pooping more sleeping.

Yay Happypants! It's so good to see that you and Finn are doing well!
I'm all about my Prowraps but I'd like to try the SWWs.

Momto1 I hope your little one gets to feeling better.

Kat you guys keep enjoying your fun in the sun. It's hot as Hades here so we usually don't leave the house between 11 or 12 and 5 or 6.

Anakna4 I'm sure your DD won't be scarred. If anything she'll have the mama pads completely down by the time she needs them.

I think that's everybody. I'm sure DH wants to do some pokering so I will be back.
