My absolute favorite of all time......for enjoyment or for educational reasons?

Ok, I LOVE the book It by Stephen King. The other one would be any of Linda Dobson's homeschooling books.

My Life on a Plate by India Knight. Not literature - just a fluffy fun book. But laugh out loud funny (really it's guffaw, laugh uproariously until I snort and get a headache funny) and it never fails to pull me out of a bad mood.

But I can't even make a consistent top ten, picking one is darn near impossible!

Take care,

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.

Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace.

Breath Eyes Memory by Edwidge Danticat

I love anything by Edwidge Danticat. She is like my all time favorite writer! I met her and I was like this : and too stupified to say anything. I really shouldn't meet people I admire.

Officially, it's always been A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

but... A Fine Balance and Poisonwood Bible were very amazing.

Pancake Goddess stole all of mine!

But I'll also throw in The Time Traveller's Wife (and I'm physically restraining myself from adding more!)

I love love love that book!!!

... my all-time favorite though? I'll have to wimp out and make it a tie between To Kill a Mockingbird and The Red Tent.

OK, I can't help myself, I love threads like this!

The Way the Crow Flies by Anne Marie Macdonald:

The Lord of the Rings (Tolkien). I read it at least once a year, every year. Every time there's some nuance of language or emotion which catches me differently. I began reading the trilogy in the 4th grade. I must admit, it's a bit above normal books in my mind.

If we were talking non-Tolkien books -- Les Miserables, probably.

I can't help it, I have to list 2. I love both these books above all other books but I can't choose between them:

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Its so hard to pick just one! For years it was "Gone With the Wind" but now its "Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

I just finished this book!! Soooooo goooood! It's not really the type of book I usually read, but I am so glad I did. I just felt different when I got up from reading it each time... it helped give me a new outlook on things.

Anyway, I usually say that "Survivor" by Chuck Palahniuk is my fave, but it kind of depends on what mood I'm in.
