Birthball question - Page 2

I got mine for $12 at Target, just a regular exercise ball. You can inflate or deflate to make it harder or softer according to your preference.

The ball is the "gadget" that I have had the most use out of... it was an awesome chair for my backache in pregnancy, great for all of the "optimal fetal positioning" posture, I used it as a seat and to lean over in labour, and then hours of bouncing a fussy baby : Now she uses it to play with!

An interesting off-topic temp tidbit: someone was doing a study about temps at the end of pregnancy, and whether they dropped with impending labour ( I think due to decreasing progesterone levels, but I could be wrong). I don't know of the results, but considered temping again near the end out of interest. As if near-term pregnant women don't have enough to obsess about... I decided not to just because I thought sleeping in was preferable to waking to temp at a consistent time

I have heard that temps drop before a woman goes into labor, as also seen in pregnant cats. Many cat breeders check their pg cats temps when they are getting close so that they can be better prepared.

I think I'll test this out on me this time too! I'll let you know in Nov/Dec!

Don't overinflate. It's easier to sit on when it gives six inches.

OT question which I just cross-posted in I'm Pregnant - how do you clean your ball when plain water just won't get off the grime? (ball has been rolling around the cellar/ garage for the past year and a half...)

Warm soapy water for the grime, rinse well, and then tea tree oil to disinfect/make it smell better.
