I'm 5 foot and about 200 pounds, about a size 22
I used a kiddie pool, but the bigger one, and it was HUGE.
The smaller one would have been FINE, possibly even BETTER, because the bigger one took so long to fill and even with the h2o heater cranked, the water wasn't nearly warm enough........the smaller one would have held less water, and i think we would have had enough so it would have been warmer....

This is totally OT, but I had to just say, EVERY time I think of a question or wonder about something, and say to myself "I'll have to remember to ask that once I'm TTC or pregnant" someone on here posts a thread that answers my questions for me.
MDC rocks!

I'm 37 weeks today & blew up the smaller, round pool last night. I'm 5'7 and weighed in at 248 today. It felt plenty big to me. mw recommended the smaller one to push against the sides, plus the advantage of less water to regulate temperature for.
I also have the bigger hex pool ($17 at TRU) which I plan to fill and have outside for an option during laboring. It will be kept at a cooler temp (not going to futz with temperature control).

Yep, I am normally sized somwhere about 18-20 and I used the smaller round fishy pool for my last birth. Worked out great and I totally didn't feel like a hippo in a puddle
This time around I am using the larger hex one, but that is only because I let my kids play in the round one for two summers so it is pretty crusty and the hex one was on sale at TRU for about $15 compared to buying the round one off the internet for more than twice that. I do think that the round one would have started to feel crowded to me if my husband had climbed in or something, but it was just me and I had more that enough room to move around into different positions and spread myself out as much as I wanted.

ma Donna: I was 37 weeks yesterday, too! Maybe I should blow that pool up... I have the round fishy, too. I've heard so many great things about it -- I'm sure it's going to be perfect. I think one of the most important tips I read is to use an electric air pump to fill it, so that you can really cram a lot of air pressure in there. Apparently the sides hold up really well *if* there's enough tension in there.
Seriously, I'd better blow up that pool. Woke up this morning all crampy and feeling somehow "different"...

5'2 and a size 18, around 200 lbs at birth and the small pool works best for me. I had the big pool for 1 labor and hated it. I like being able to push off the sides.
