here's a quote from Clay-

Man, that's funny...130,000 people to beat up! Kid's got class!

Did anyone read the EW article about Simon not coming back for season three. Also, apparently, Ryan Seacrest let it slip to Clay that he lost before he even made the announcement.

I'll post a link if anyone needs it.

I had heard about Clay seeing the results 5 min. before it was announced, but I heard he saw it over Ryan's shoulder.

I'd be glad to know ahead of time if I lost so I could get my best "I'm so happy for you" face going!

Try just going to www.ew.com and follow the links from there. Maybe that will work??

Hmmm...how weird. Basically, the article states that Simon Cowell most likely will not be back for the third season of AI because he wants to concentrate on being a record exec. It also has Simon saying that Ryan Seacrest is so thick because he let it slip to Clay that he lost because Clay saw the card with the names on it.

The article also states that Clay said on some interview that he didn't know because they keep everything under tight wraps backstage.

Personally, I believe Simon. Clay seems like the type of guy to tell a white lie so Ryan won't look bad, etc. He was trying to be polite. Simon just does not care.

Well, without Simon, the show won't get the ratings. Surely he knows that. Do you think it's a ploy to get people to bow down to him in submission?

I dunno about it being a ploy but ITA that without Simon the show won't be what it is and was these past two seasons. Simon is quite possibly my favorite thing about the show. His honesty is brutal. You don't find that too often nowadays.
