My PPA is getting worse.: What meds are safe while breastfeeding?
I think I need daily meds instead of the once a week .5 dose of Lorazepam.
Thanks

Zoloft is considered safer than Lorazepam by most providers since it isn't a benzodiazepine. I'm surprised actually that they'd put you on a benzo nursing. I took Zoloft last time and will this time as well.

I think Zoloft is first choice but zoloft gave me terrible headaches. I am on Paxil and have had no problems whatsoever. It has helped my anxiety tremendously.

Thanks for your answers.
It's good to know that I have some choices that are safe.

I heard that Paxil was used to treat anxiety so I'm happy to hear that it's safe. Is zoloft used for PPA as well?

After researching, Zoloft was what seemed to be the best for breastfeeding. That is what I am on & I finally seem to have my head above the water.

Hugs to you! I know how it is.

My psych told me that Paxil is actually way more known for it's use with anxiety a lot more then depression. So I think if you're struggling on the anxiety side, which I was, maybe look towards Paxil?? Although I think zoloft is used a lot for anxiety so you could maybe try that first?? Either one I am sure would help. I have just felt SOOO much better with paxil, but it did take one dose increase to feel this way. hth.

I have mixed anxiety-depression disorders, and Zoloft seems to be more effective for me. I'm more comfortable with Zoloft than with Paxil; I seemed more anxious on Paxil though the depression was better. Who knows, though -- SSRIs are such a crapshoot.

My doctor just put me on a very low dose of Zoloft. He mentioned it was the safest. He told me I might feel more anxious for a few days, and I am.

I felt sleepy but was afraid of falling asleep. I hope it kicks in soon, i'm tired of feeling like I'll have another panic attack and die (althought I do know that you cannot die of panic) and I'm tired of interpreting my body signals as catastrophic. sigh.

I know how panic attacks so totally suck! You've described it perfectly, like you're gonna die. I do hope you start feeling better soon. I'm still looking for the perfect med for all my symptoms and it has been two years. Good luck to you.
