soft cervix with dialation what to do?

A friend of mine is on bed rest with a soft cervix and when she stands she starts to dialate. She is about to start taking steroids to increase the babies lung size.Are there any other options,especially alternative ones?Oh I forgot to add that she is only 6 months along.
