Useful/Useless Baby Items - Page 2

Yeah, I wash dipes every day, sometimes every other day. I use two covers at a time-- one to wear and one to air.

The one thing I wish I'd had before that I will get this time is a nursing stool, I was amazed how stiff my back got trying to position the little guy properly. I think the stool will help.

I second (or third or whatever) that highchairs are useless. I much prefer the little seat that just straps to a regular chair.

Speaking of eating, this is for older babies, but i really loved a product called The Tiny Diner. It was a dishwasher safe placemat with a pocket at the bottom that caught stuff before it hit baby's lap. It suctioned to the table and since it was brought from home, I never worried too much about how clean the restaurant table was. Anyway, well worth the $10.

We like to do diaper laundry as little as possible here too. Sometimes the little Miss doesn't cooperate though DH doesn't like to go more than 3 days though.
We have tons of diapers and covers for dd so we can go that long. I don't know how its going to work with 3 in cloth though :

Well, I had 2 in cloth for a year and a half, and still only did them every 3 days. Near the end they could wear some of the same sized diapers too which was handy.
Hopefully I'll only have 6 months of 2 in diapers this time. 3 would be pretty wild! I'll bet you'll have to do a diaper load every 2 days just because otherwise they won't all fit in the washer!!

dh is planning on everyday at least for awhile. He usually washes when the pail is full. If these two go like dd did we might be washing twice a day I only have 3dz nb diapers too

We only wash the covers if they get poopy, and then I just rinse them off by hand. (unless we're talking severe poopiness!) I would think they would wear out (especially ones with velcro closures?) if we washed them often. I guess ours are not absorbent, so they don't need washing after pees.

We did use a few kissaluvs when ds was newborn, and definately washed those all the time, but now we have a hodgepodge of lightweight just-cover type ones to go over our prefolds.

Also pretty relaxed about cleanliness around here! Sometimes those covers get washed more often than I do! (Now that it's warm enough to go swimming, I'm only taking baths, well, a lot less often than I bet most people around here do!)

I have mostly ProRaps. Some DiaperRaps and Nikky covers too, but I still wash them after 3 wearings maximum, and they get tumble dried. Some of them were bought used even, and they're only showing a bit of wear around the edges going on our third baby, so I guess they're pretty good quality!!

We throw our covers in the wash and the dryer. Most of ours are used too and they look and work fine. DH tends use them more than he should though. I can't tell you how many times I've picked up a cover to use and uke and thats without even giving it the sniff test. He thinks since wool rarely needs a wasing the rest of the covers are the same way
I can't really complain though he does all the diaper laundry and most of the changes

You are a VERY VERY lucky mama...when my husband is home, he'll change a diaper if asked. But never once has he ever cleaned a diaper.

oh I know dh is great. He's the diaper king over here. I'm a terrible housekeeper. He's actually asked me not to wash the dishes or the diapers becuase he says I don't get them clean

My covers get thrown in whatever wash I am doing, then hung to dry. Most of the ones we got were from my nephew, then my DD wore them for 2 years and they are still holding on

That's just what I tell him about the rest of the laundry and the dishes. I'd rather just do them myself, because otherwise I'll just end up re-doing what he's already tried to do, and it's just not worth it!

(However, when it comes to asking for directions, we're the opposite of the stereotype. I NEVER ask directions, and he's always ready to stop and ask at the first blade of grass he doesn't recognize!)
