Hi
New to this forum, hope i'm posting this in the right forum. I have a dress that is 92%cotton and 8% spandex. It's orange and I want to dye it black. I've never dyed anything before. How do I do this? Where can I buy dye, can I dye in a wash machine? or do I need a bucket? Any suggestions welcome Thanks

Go here: http://www.dharmatrading.com/info/procion.html

They sell all kinds of dyes and supplies. I've used the fiber reactive dyes on 100% cotton, silk, and wool, but I'm not sure about how a little spandex would affect the results. Do some poking around on thier website to figure out what you need.

Your cotton/spandex combo will dye up fine.

You can dye it in the washer but for just one item it would be just as easy to dye it in a bucket and probably you'd conserve a tad bit of water.
Aslo, you can check out itiedye.com for more info on dyeing.
