My dh and I are renting/buying our house from MIL. She's movin' out! (Is there a dancin' for joy smiley? ) It's going to be something new for us as we've never been on our own as a family.

I need ideas on how to organize/plan and keep up with the bills. My new mantra is "Bills first! Then everything else." It's new to us, especially dh, who has always liked to spoil us all first, then worry about the bills.

Are there any frugal living websites you like to visit? Any books you can recommend?

Our first payment on the house is on the 1st! I am so excited I could pop!

Thanks mamas!

Welcome to the Frugality Forum!! There is quite a lot of very useful information on these threads.

I think your mantra should be "10% to savings first, bills second, then everything else."

You will be surprised how quickly 10% adds up to a nice emergency fund. (Like for when you have to repair your car or something). Having an emergency fund makes it less likely that you will resort to credit cards and wind up paying more in the long run.
