March Homebirthers Roll Call! - Page 9

I had our daughter in a hospital because we lived too far in the moutains to do it any other way and still have insurance help. It was not the birth I had hoped for, even though I had a midwife. This time we just moved to TN and I have found a wonderful midwife in the area to do a water/homebirth with us. Hubby is still a little scared but he is supporting me the whole way.

Will be home/water birthing this time around - had a water/hospital birth (with private midwife) first birth.

Was wondering how many others here are planning homebirths so will have to sit down and work through allll these posts to catch up on everyone : Ăś

I will be a homebirth mama! The baby's expected arrival is the end of Feb/beginning of March. My son was born almost 3.5 years ago via c-section (breech presentation, no care provider support for vaginal birth). I have done the medicalized thing and cannot wait to finally experience the birth I have always wanted! I hired my dream midwife and recently put the rest of my dream birth team in place. That's where the vision ends so I am excited to see what the rest of the reality is.

Also, I am finally getting an ultrasound this week. I know they are controversial amongst some homebirthers. I really enjoyed the first ultrasound with my son. I still remember thinking that would be the only time I or anyone would ever see his whole body, all his organs, his skeletal system, etc all at one time. I have kept a photo from his ultrasound next to my bed since his birth. This time I am looking forward to seeing the baby. I already feel very connected to this baby. My husband chose to end our marriage a few weeks after we found out I am pregnant. I have felt strongly that doing this ultrasound will give me some guidance or teach me something in some way before this baby arrives.

Anyway, that's my long story. Hello homebirth mamas!

We're having a homebirth! My actual "due date" (I know the exact date of conception) is Feb 23 but we're saying we're due in March. Up to this point we have been using birth center midwives but I'm not feeling that vibe. We're moving to WA in December and I have an appointment with the homebirth midwives there.

I too, am birthing at home. I wanted DD to be a home birth, but b/c I went so far overdue, my MW's would not do it at home.

This one, after some soul searching and researching, I am happily doing on my own, and will birth at home.

Hey all. I'm new here and trying to figure out all of the abreviations still.

Anyway, we bought a house/farm last year that also has a big hot tub on the back porch and we are planning a homebirth if all goes well. Which so far, so good. THis baby is kicking away.

Ditto! I suppose I will be joining you guys, and I'm SOOO EXCITED about it! We were planning another birth center birth, but they are shutting down (will continue to deliver in hospital)...but I don't want that! Now, we just have to start interviewing midwives. I've got one consultation set up for Thurs, another I'm supposed to call after the 15th and set up a consult (she's out of state right now), and I just got another lead this morning.: The thought of interviewing and choosing has got me going crazy now. I want to be sure I make the right choice, but how will I know! Dh wanted me to consider uc but only b/c he didn't want anyone in our trailer and doesn't want to pay a lot of $(we had qualified for medicaid which is why we were going to go ahead and use the bc as a compromise). Men!! Oh well, he now realizes there is no talking me out of this. I think he's excited about it too.

We lived in a very old single wide trailer when DS was born. I was very nervous about it - we even had some of our windows boarded up and our heat was a propane heater (our furnace and the duct work was all falling apart). I was always worrying it wouldn't be "clean" enough too. My MW told me not to worry, she had actually delivered in dirt floor cabins.

This time I'm UCing so I am not worried one bit about anyone seeing my mess! LOL.

I think one of my questions will be, "Are you comfortable attending a birth in an old, small trailer?"

Just wanted to join in here. How did I miss this thread?? I plan on giving birth at home this time. My oldest was a homebirth transport for an extremely long pushing stage with other factors. My second DD was born at a free standing birth center 1 1/2 hours away from our home just simply because there were no other midwives to attend me and I would drive 10 hours to birth with a midwife rather than a hospital. This time we finally have some midwives here and I won't be leaving my house at all. Thank goodness!!!!

Ooops, is it too late for me to join???

We are VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY excited to finally be able to have our baby naturally! The first two were surgical deliveries so I am looking forward to my first birth. We cannot have this baby at our home since we're too far away from the midwife, but we'll be renting a house closer to her for 2 weeks either side of the due date, so for 4 weeks total. Does that still count as a homebirth?

Have I mentioned I'm excited?!?

Yes, it still counts as a homebirth, and WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!! I'm excited for you, too!

Another homebirth hopeful here! I too had a surgical birth with my dd so i am hoping for a HBAC, I do flip-flop a bit with hospital and home, but my heart tells me home is best. I think it is my wallet who is influencing the flip-flop for hospital!
I am seeing two homebirth midwives here in town and I feel very lucky to live here and have this option open to me.
