What are you doing for Easter Baskets? - Page 2

For 5 yo DS I'm doing: sewing a carrot out of felt for his bunny stuffed animals, small nest w/wooden painted robin eggs & robin (from Micheal's $1.99) w/the book "A Nest Full of Eggs", egg shaped chalk, bubbles, chocolates from France, some candy...still have time, so might add more...

I know a mom who is doing sand pails full of sand toys for the sand box and or beach.

I give each of the kids a LITTLE BIT of candy, and a small toy. This year I have made origami baskets and origami bunnies for decoration.

i did this too. and when they got older, i put a CD in the basket.

my worst possible easter experienc was when i was in nursing school, and found myself at walmart at 1 am easter sunday. everything was gone, except for a few pathetic looking "peeps". i filled their baslets with trident, slim jims and mentos.

I bought those mini potting cups that you can plant directly into the ground (can't remember what they're made of, but all natural stuff - you start the seeds inside, and then in May plant the whole thing directly in the ground) and some seeds to plant a faerie garden, so will put that in their baskets. And then I actually took a bunch of real eggs, made as small a hole as possible in the bottom to take the egg out, washed and dried it, then painted them really colourfully lastnight! I will stuff wooden necklaces and bracelets with ladybugs in them, and stickers. A bit of tissue paper in the bottom to make sure the stuff stays in, and voila! They look great in the basket, and it's fun to have to crack them open to get the treat!!!!

I made Isaac little felt chickens and rabbits that you put over the eggs. I also bought him a white stuffed rabbit and painted one ear orange, like the rabbit on Paz. He has that video and loves it. From Natoma Trading I got him a wash basin, a gardening tools set ($4) and a watering can. I also got him a couple of play silks ($5) I started buying early and didn't realise how much I had. I also got him a cute little shirt that says 'organically growing' a wooden penguin, and a penguin puzzle.

I bought organic pretzels and organic white chocolate and I'm going to dip the pretzels. I also go some natural dyed candy sprinkles to roll them in. I'm also going to make him some kettle corn. His favorite.

OHHHH. You can knit easter chicks really easily. Just knit a square and sew it up like a triangle. Before it's completely closed stuff it. Then tie some yarn on one end and fluff it up for it's head and on the other end do some braids like long tail feathers. Isaac loves these.

that sounds super cute, but I don't know how to knit!
I'll have to tell my sister (who knits)

This year I only have 1 dark chocolate, 1 panda licorice, and 1 bag of natural jelly beans for bean.

I really wanted to do the natural grass in her basket, but I haven't gotten to it

We have made some fun crafts (traced her hand, cut it out, curled the fingers down and turned the whole hand in and taped it to a pipe cleaner...looks like a cala lilly kind of ...

and some paper eggs and homemade cards

I don't know if she "gets" easter just yet anyway!
:LOL
she's 3 this year

there is a thread in here (have to do a search) about dyeing eggs naturally , but two different people chimed in to say brown eggs didn't work well for them
