Baby cereal - what else can I do w/them?

I get wic - and have recently started receiving baby cereals - barley, oatmeal, rice.

I have no intention of feeding them to babe. they're rather icky as a cereal and my personal opinion, not needed for my child at this time..

my babe is breastmilk only til he starts eating 'real' food - which will be intro'd starting around 9 months or first tooth. . . .

would these 'baby' cereals be good as thickeners in gravies, useable as 'breading ' (blended somehow) for fish/chicken/pork

etc?

any input greatly appreciated.

I made some nice chewy cookies with some I had. The older kids loved them! You can also use them to thicken things or kneaded into meatloaf or the like too. If you do a search online, I think cooks.com had a bunch of recipes IIRC.

They are just rice, oat, etc. flour with vitamins added so any recipes that use those types of flour. I got a box free and stuck it in my emergency kit. I figure if we have a dreadful disaster I'll just be glad to have something to eat.

If you eat meat you can use them as binder in a meatloaf. I have used them when I ran out of breadcrumbs and they work great.

I just saw on another thread where a momma used them in baking with great results. Just use like flour.
