not a diehard country music fan, but Emmylou Harris's covers of To Know Him is to Love Him, and Together Again are wonderful.

That is a GREAT cover.
I really like the Gnarls Barkley cover of The Violent Femmes song Gone Daddy Gone. Now that's a band I'd love to see live.

The Connells do covers of "Living In The Past" and "Cruel To Be Kind." Love 'em.

I looooove The Connells . . . .

Ron Sexsmith does a wonderful cover of (Tell Me Why) I Don't Like Mondays. That song always tears me up a bit.

I love K.D. Lang's version of Neil Young's Helpless and I prefer her version of Hallelujah over Buckley's. :

Nick Cave also does a version of Helpless that is beautiful on the album "The Bridge--A Tribute to Neil Young." That album also has The Pixies doing Winterlong that is awesome. Better than Neil's version.

Ooohhh...Nick Cave makes me weak in the knees. Always has. Can't explain it but it's powerful .

At least for me, it's always because it's too easy to picture throwing clothes out the window, cleaning off tabletops with the sweep of an arm type sex while listening to some of his songs. Even some of really dark ones.

Anyway - I second Seu Jorge David Bowie covers. And Roxy Music has done some great covers especially "Like a Hurricane" (Neil Young) and "Jealous Guy" John Lennon.

Def Leppard just released a cover album.
Quote:
On May 23 2006, Def Leppard released an all-covers album titled Yeah!. The disc pays homage to the musical heroes of their childhood, including David Bowie ("Drive-In Saturday"), The Kinks ("Waterloo Sunset"), Blondie ("Hanging On The Telephone"), Electric Light Orchestra ("10538 Overture"), among others. It debuted at a dissapointing #52 on the UK album charts, but fared much better in the US, debuting at #16 (their tenth consecutive Top 20 album).
They're going to be at the Clark County Amphetheater on July 30, and DH is ECSTATIC!

If you do a search on the band "Me First and the Gimme Gimmes" you should find a lot of covers (mostly of 80's tunes).

However, I LOVE the cover Metallica did of Nick's "Loverman"
Way too sexy....yikes...I can't listen to it without not wanting DH in the room right away, KWIM?
