Cloth Napkins Anyone? - Page 3

Sorry to revive an older thread, but I just wanted to say that I saw this post a couple of weeks ago and was SO inspired that I decided to make my own cloth napkins for the house. I went to Joann's and bought quarter flats (for quilting, I imagine?) in all kinds of funky colors and patterns. They are the perfect size! I rolled a quick hem on them and sewed them up, and they are wonderful! I was so excited that I went back and bought another huge stack of quarter flats (had to have some matching sets, you know! ). Dh thinks I spent way too much money, but I won't have to buy/make napkins for the rest of my life (and I'm only slightly exaggerating).

I also bought 2 packs of washcloths to leave in a basket and use in place of paper towels. I'm amazed at how much I used paper for that I'm now using cloth for.

Thank you, ladies!!

We use cloth napkins in place of paper too. I got a whole bunch on freecycle. I just wash them with the towels. I also use cheapo cloths in place of paper towels. I either get them at dollar store or I'll cut up a bath towel that no one wants to use any more. A friend of mine cuts up old clothes for napkins. I've thought about doing that with some of my old shirts. I can't imagine trying to clean with paper any more. My kids also prefer the cloth. I think it is a shame that our society has gotten to be so disposable.
