new dixie chicks

I bought their new album because I have enjoyed a lot of their music and want to support them in their firm stand against war/shrub, and wow, I love it! Anyone else love the chicks? I am so not a country fan, but that fiddle and those lyrics are really wonderful.

Chicks rule. Someone burned the new one for me, but I am going to buy it to show my support as well. (I'm pissed because apparently they had to cancel a concert date in my town because of low sales. Blasted red state.) I haven't even listened to the thing yet, but I have Fly and Wide Open Spaces, which are both really good albums. However, I've read that their latest is different than the first two, and I also know WOS is a more typical first album than Fly.

But if you like Natalie's vocals and their picking, you should enjoy the others.

We saw them in concert several years ago, and not only did the show rock but their opening act was Patty Griffin, who I now love more than the Chicks.

I've got the new one. "Not Ready to Make Nice" is my new theme song! Who says I have to be nice to people who pissed me off? Not me!

teacup, so you're missing the 3rd one, right? That one is really incredible, I think. Better than the first two, for me.

The new album has so many great songs - some political and some not - those chicks are just all about loving relationships and peaceful politics

how can you beat that?

I'm embarrassed to admit, PancakeGoddess, that I forgot about Home. We have that one too; I just don't love it like I do the first two. I should bust it out and try harder. It's got to be a character flaw, right?

geek, I am with you. New country...ugh.

lol, well, if you don't like it, you don't! I like their version of Landslide, and I really like More Love. And the one to her little boy - is that one on that album?

Also, for some reason, there is a song on there that I just think is about the saddest-sounding song in the world, and just so moving. I forget the name of it, but it has that line "I wish I loved Jesus the way my wife does."

And, one more thing - I just love that line: You don't like the sound of the truth, coming from my mouth.

Ahhh, see? That's a Patty Griffin song. She wrote and recorded it on...um...10,000 Kisses, maybe? Check her out.

I admit to loving White Trash Wedding. Their tongue-in-cheek humor kills. And yes, the lullaby-type song is on there, and it's very good. (Don't get me wrong, I like the album. I just don't groove on it as much as the others.)

oh! I didn't know that - the sad one? I will definitely check that out.

or maybe you meant the other one I mentioned... I am terrible with song titles

Love them, got the new album a few weeks ago.

My boys love White Trash Wedding, they make me play it over and over in the car, and they know all the words :

Can't remember the name either, but I know which one you mean. Sounds very raw. (does that make sense?)

I don't really like the country, but I love them. The new album is on my list. I'm extremely impressed with the new song.
