Same here. I did not like the writing style at all; his writing techniques were sooooo obvious. But, the information and the concept itself were quite fascinating and I'd love to learn more about what is true and what aspects of the book are fiction.

I do have the film on my netflix cue. although I can't see how it would be a very interesting movie!

I read it twice, but not becuase I like the book very much, I read it twice out of boredom, I find his book Angels and Demons far more interesting than this one..

I loved it!

I guess I'm a literary snob....

I thought it wasn't worth the hype. The idea that elite government cryptologists were taking two or three pages to solve puzzles that to me were no-brainers was disappointing. The religious stuff was interesting, but nothing I hadn't heard before and I'm not a Christian anyway so it wasn't foundation-rocking to me. The writing was terrible, and that's what matters to me.

Yeah, that's what I thought! This woman had been doing puzzles since childhood, trained as a high level code-breaker, and the most obvious puzzles always had her stumped. Every other page, she would look confusedly at the guy (forget his name) and give a plea for help. Puuuhhhhleeeese.

And, the fact that all this took place over a few days' time, during which they never slept or ate, yet were figuring out complex mental problems, driving, and traveling long distances without any mention of rest or food, was really unrealistic to me!

I loved all the puzzles and such, and the theme underlying it.

Now, every birthday for the past two years or so (ever since the book came out), my husband and I send each other out on long treasure hunts around the house to find our gifts! He's so clever at making them! We have a great time.

I then bought all the books that have been mentioned here (his other books), related books on Mary Magdalene, Holy Blood, Holy Grail, you name it. I am very atheist, but these books have at least made me believe there was a dude named Jesus who walked the earth.

However, even though I thoroughly am entertained by reading his books, I do feel a bit insulted by the writing style, the cliff-hangers on every chapter end... I guess those kind of books are not my favorite. So I loved it and disliked it at the same time, lol!

I also was very intrigued after reading the book. At the time, the book's website had lots of good links, but that was a few years ago.

I haven't!
I want to, I may..but I have a feeling it's going to be one of those books hard to drag yourself trough. kwim?
and you only want to finish it because you don't want to miss anything because of all the media hype that come from it.

it was such a lame book. so terribly written and not a cliffhanger at all. most of the time i was either or but i must admit i did enjoy the bits about under the louvre. i only read it to find out why so many people were thinking the code does exist irl when this was a work of fiction.

now what i hope will be an interesting read is the woman with teh alabaster jar because i went to a slide show of hte paintings mentioned in that book. v. fascinating.
