July 3rd, 4:43 a.m.
39 wks, 3 days
9 lbs 3 oz
22.5 inches

At 1:03 a.m. my water breaks like it's Niagara Falls! No contractions, though. So, we fill the tub and do most of the stuff on my "Showtime To Do List". At 2:00, I check myself and I am 1 cm dilated and 60% effaced, the same as I have been for a month. We decided not to phone anyone until contractions start. In my third labour, my water broke and I didn't go into labour for 8 hours. No point in waking up people. We go back to bed. DH sleeps. I don't, but at least I rest. 4:05 brings the first contraction. DH springs into action. Phone calls are made. I vomit with the first contraction and with most thereafter. My contractions are double length. By the third contraction, I am already feeling grunty. At 4:38, I am still on the bed and I realize that the baby's head is there. I tell DH that baby's coming, the head is there. He calls the kids in and we get in the tub. I am trying to slow things down. First of all, I didn't want to tear. Secondly, my mother, sister and midwives have not arrived yet. 4:43 brings Emmet into my arms with only myself, DH and our kids to share in the moment. Five minutes pass before the first midwife arrives. Another five minutes pass before the second midwife and my mom and sister arrive. I am very disappointed that my mom was not there for the actual birth. But what can you do? I expected this labour to be fast, but not 33 minutes fast! I think I had about 8 contractions. They were very intense, however. I figured we'd have 45-60 minutes this time. NOT! I feel great and Emmet is perfect! We are all in LOVE! Thanks for everyone's birthing vibes. It helped!

Wow, Congratulations!!! I think that is the fastest labor I've ever heard of! Do you think its because you vomitted so much?

Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Hope you are getting plenty of rest.
