De-worming with natural stuff?

I'm going to get a puppy soon, and I live really far out of town, and have no worm pills or vet nearby. I doubt that the puppy is up to date with de-worming, as its "unwanted" (kid got another dog after and doesn't want this one) So I'm wondering how I can de-worm at home... garlic? cloves? herbs? I really don't want my dds to get worms, or me either If I can't deworm fairly quickly, I'll have to go to town to get some pills. I don't want to take any chances.

The safest way is with PYRANTEL (sold as Strongid, Nemex, and kids' pinworm medication). It's safer than the level of garlic you'd need to actually get rid of them. It's very cheap at feed stores, and the dose is usually 1/2-1 tsp per 5 lbs body weight.
