What happened at your last OB/MW appointment? - Page 6

Had my 37w4d appointment. Not much new-- my BP is a little high, as it always is at that particular BP machine. Weight is down 1/2 a pound, which doesn't make any sense at all considering that all I want to eat right now is a #5 from Chik-fil-A, Oreos and Captain Crunch. : They say tadpole is a "good size baby" and will probably be about 8 pounds at birth, but that everything feels and looks great. Her head is wedged on down, and she's breakdancing around her head, spinning however she wants to. Go, breakdancing baby!

The best news is that right before my visit, I had my first loose BM in about 9 months. It was blissful and dreamy and marvelous and probably accounts for the lost 1/2 pound listed above. Here's to hoping it heralds labor or progress and isn't just a fluke! Although heaven knows i'll take more flukes like that.... ahhhhhhhh.

I had my 36 week 6 day appointment today. They did my GBS (I convinced myself it was a good thing to have it done)

Weight is up 10 lbs in 2 weeks, which is insane, cause I am eating MUCH less than before. Of course, my ankles are the size of my thighs these days. I feel like one stump from my hip to my toes. My BP is a little high, too, but the midwife was convinced it was the machine, until she took it herself. Still a little high. That bought me a trip to L&D for labs and a non-stress test. Baby looked great. Labs were okay (kind of borderline PIH, just like they were last week)

She even checked me, and I'm 1 cm and 70%. Not bad for a first time mama at 37 weeks. Seems like all the contractions I have are doing a *little* something.

I have to go back in 5 days, instead of 7, just to keep an eye on my BP.

37w appt was today, nothing new to report. Got my GBS swab done (yuck) and the doctor said if I wanted to he could check to see if I was dilating. Nope I could care less, honestly, and I don't want to find out if I'm 4 cm dilated or something if I still have 4 weeks to go! BP normal, I've gained another 3 lbs since 2 weeks ago (which makes no sense because I'm barely eating and am not swollen, but whatever works I guess : ). I'm now up 33 lbs from my pre-pg weight, and I'm happy with that. Baby is still head down, but he's not fully engaged so I have to keep my fingers crossed on that one that he stays put! no flipping allowed!

Today was my 40 week. My Dr usually forgets to give me an actual update. He just says BP looks good, weight looks good, measurement looks good, etc. I think I gained at least 4 lbs this week somehow, though the last two weeks I was losing weight so maybe I'm just catching up here. I actually made the nurse measure me twice as I had a bowel movement while waiting for the doctor and I was curious how much I lost (1 whole lb!)

Anyway, I passed on the internal exam again. We discussed the plan for the next two weeks - I'll do an internal next Thursday, where I'll also get an U/S to check the amniotic fluid. Friday (8/11), my actual 41 week, I'd be doing the non-stress test and then also the next Wednesday. I'd be induced the following Friday (8/18) if our son doesn't come on his own before then.

I'm not worried about next week, though the following week could be stressful as Friday would be staring at me. I'm just trusting God in this for His timing, peace and rest while I wait, and strength to make it through a natural childbirth.

OMG, you crack me up girl! Both the break dancing baby & the BM stuff

I haven't had the constipation problem since I started double-dosing acidophilus to prevent GBS (it works in your gut) & then after that I started taking evening primrose oil!

I had a prenatal yesterday @ 39+4. I've been having them weekly for a month or so now... each time baby's head was a little lower. Yesterday- fully engaged & at station 0! YIPPEE!!!!! That makes all of the pelvic pain worth it, knowing that I don't really have to worry about cord prolapse, breech, & should labor more effectively once I finally go in to labor!!! It's interesting, w/ baby being lower, my belly went from measuring 40cm last week to 37.5 this week (the incredible shrinking baby- haha!).

I'm actually really proud of my body... & so excited to meet my baby!

I had my 36wk this past week. I had an internal the week before, cervix was still completely closed. This week they didn't do an internal, and when I asked about it they said there was no reason to do it until I'm actually in labor, since I could start dilating and just walk around like that for weeks so why bother even knowing if I've started dilating at all.

But I did find out that GBS came back negative, which I'm very happy about -- I am SO prone to yeast infections and UTIs and I have herpes, so I just figured that I would test positive for sure. Thankfully not! My body is finally behaving for once!

The past 2 nights I've woken up with contractions, and last night I actually woke up with excruciating gas/diarrhea cramps. I keep convincing myself that I'm in labor, which I totally am not. I just need to calm down and wait it out -- easier said than done!!!

I had my 36 week visit on Thursday. I got the GBS test done. I also met one of my doctors for the first time. (I moved in June and started at this practice in July. They have 3 OB/GYNs so I met one at my last visit, met this Dr. this week, see her again next week and meet the 3rd Dr. on the 17th. I just hope I get to meet all the Drs before I go into labor or that a Dr. I met already delivers. I don't really want to meet my Dr. during labor.) I brought in my birth plan and we went over it. She talked to us for about 45 minutes about everything, explained why they prefer to do things a certain way but ultimately it is my choice. She is Russian which makes things better I think bc American medical care seems to be different than that in other countries (we moved back from Germany in June) and she doesn't have any concerns about moving during labor or not having pain medication. She said in Russia they don't get fancy-schmancy epidurals all the time and everything is fine. When we discussed episiotomies, she seemed like she would only do it if she felt it was necessary, she talked about supporting the perineum and the different types of episiotomies (although I said I would rather risk a tear).

I was really nervous about presenting my birth plan but I asked all the questions I wanted to and discussed the birth plan. It went fine. I didn't want to be too confrontational but I wanted my preferences known. I guess also since I switched practices late in my pregnancy I don't really know my Drs so it makes it hard to gauge how they will react about things, but everything was fine with the 2 Drs I met so far. I guess also I know that its too late to change practices again, I don't have time to find anyone else if I were to have any problems with my Drs and that I am already seeing Drs that are out of my network because they have privileges at the hospital 5 minutes from my house. The closest in network provider is 40 minutes away, in an area I am not familiar with, so I opted to pay an extra 5% to have Drs that are close and a hospital that was close.

I am up 34 pounds from my prepregnacy weight. 3 pounds of which was gained in the last 2 weeks. I also have two blood clots in my groin area, she said they were superficial and should be fine. They already feel less sore so hopefully they won't need any more attention.

I measured 37 cm, blood pressure was good and baby's heartbeat was good. I have started getting a few stretch marks now. I was surprised that they are on the side of my hips and my upper thighs. I really thought I would get them on my belly since it has stretched out so much. My hips really don't seem to have gotten wider nor do my upper thighs. Plus the skin on my belly is pulled so tight while it isn't on my thighs and hips. Now I am just waiting for him to arrive.

That's where mine started too which baffled me. I think they appeared around week 34 or 35 and a few were angry red. At my 39 week appointment my husband noticed that the stretch marks appeared on my lower belly. This baffled me as not only had I lost weight that week but I was measuring exactly the same as at my 38 week appointment. Who knows what our bodies will do!

Argh! Forever!!

Today was my 38w4d appointment and my first VE, which was very disappointing. : No measurable dilation or effacement, although she said my cervix felt "really, really soft". Baby was at -3, which she said doesn't really mean anything. No predictions or ideas. It was less like an exam and more like a palm reading! Blech.

I want so badly to have this baby now. I'm not miserable or in pain, i'm just pretty sick of being pregnant and slightly uncomfortable. I don't even have any real complaints. I'm just READY, you know? I don't want to be at work, I don't want to be at home, people are irritating the snot out of me, and I want to see my baby NOW.

Which makes me perfectly normal, right??

I had my 40 week appt on Tuesday (one day shy of 40 weeks). My regular m/w was not in, she was sick AGAIN, and when I found out, I burst into tears and practically screamed at everyone, causing my BP to rise up to 142/90. They made me lay down and drink water, then forgot to re-take it. Whatever. The m/w who saw me was sympathetic and checked me, also stripping my membranes. I am 6cm, 75% effaced, baby is at -1. The stripping caused some lovely cx which petered out by bedtime on Tuesday. Yesterday I had some pink mucous which I imagine was from the internal/stripping, since no cx came with it. Today, just lots of junk, nothing pink, and almost no cx. This is ridiculous, when will this kid come out already?? Oh, and I'm with magpiedee, I don't want to be home, out of home, or with anyone, b/c people are pissing me off. I did go out to lunch yesterday and enjoyed the look of shock on the waitress' face when she asked how many months I was and I told her I was due today (yesterday). That amused me.

Had my 41 today - lost another pound from last week, which is good since I'd gained 3 the week previous week. Dr said I'm measuring fine, BP is fine, weight is fine. I have 6 something amniotic fluid which is 'fine.' Tomorrow afternoon we'll have a non-stress test and we have another scheduled for Tuesday.

I had my first internal and was 1/2 cm dilated, 50% effaced. We had the induction talk and I got freaked out b/c my induction went from Friday to Wednesday. My exact 42 week will be Saturday, but since my Dr doesn't do inductions on Saturday, it would be Friday. The Wednesday date came up because that would be when he'd want to give me some drugs to soften my cervix. Yuck.

After a long conversation with my OB (a family friend) and my husband, we sort of agreed that he would induce on Saturday if it came down to it, and if we needed the drugs we would decide on my regular Thursday OB appointment about the need for the cervix drugs. This all assuming that a) I don't go into labor before hand and b) the non-stress test results are good.

Dilated to 1 cm, baby is "more engaged". To quote the MW: "Probably not tonight, but I don't think we'll see you for your Monday appointment". If I do see them Monday, i'm scheduled for a non-stress test. Boo.

And I saw an elderly woman hit a parked car in the parking deck and just drive off. It made me so mad my scalp went hot. It's like having PMS and needing a nap at the same time!! Grr! :

Had my 2 wk check-up Tues. Stitches are healing fine, everything else is ok so I go back next month. The best part was showing off my baby to the office staff and other doctors.
