So far I have:
Construction Paper
Scissors
Markers
Paints
food coloring
crayons
markers
Also do any of you use any of these playdough recipes: http://babyparenting.about.com/cs/ac.../playdough.htm
TIA for any thoughts.

Let's see....
first we use a recipe that is similar to the nature's playdoh... we use food coloring, though, and I think the recipe I have has less cream of tartar in it. I'd like to try the recipe with alum, but I haven't found alum at the store.
In our art supply area, what we have for my not yet 3 3/4 and 2 1/3 year olds....
lots of plain white paper, crayons, colored pencils, washable markers, construction paper, scissors, stick glue, stencils, stamps and stamp pads, watercolors, paintbrushes, paint shirts, toilet paper and paper towel rolls, beads, and plastic string for the beads, coloring books, paint with water books (took me a bit to find those... target has them), we have that crayola paper/paint that only paints on their paper, glitter, scrap material, yarn, googly eyes, lots and lots of foam stickers (kids love those), stickers, playdoh (although we just ran out and I'm out of c of t), playdoh 'things' (but they love to play with just small plastic dinosaurs and small plastic arctic animals and small people in the playdoh), chalk, chalkboard
In an area they can't reach... we have dry erase markers for a dry erase board, elmer's glue, paint... things that would make a big mess if they got into (let me tell you... red dry erase marker on a couch...not good).
I've been collecting art supplies, though, since well before they could use them.
HTH.
