backpack for three year old?

Anyone have one they like? I prefer basic colors (hopefully one green and one blue since my girls seem to have chosen these colors as "their" colors). I am looking at this one at llbean, but it seems like it might be just a bit too big. The description says for 4-7 years.

My girls are three and starting preschool. They go five days a week from 9-12. All they really need to have with them is a change of clothes. I could skip a backpack altogether and just use a bag, but thought the backpack would be fun for them. They won't be carrying it any distance or anything.

I got a plain red one on clearance at Pottery Barn Kids.

The one your are looking at in LLBean should be fine. I just bought it for my 5 year old ds who is starting kindergarten, but my friend's 3 year old can also wear it without difficulty. Good luck!

Just a little public school note.

If you are looking to purchase a backpack that they can use for a while (meaning when thet go to PS) you may want to call the PS and ask what they require.

We bought DS1 a nice "child's sized" backpack for preschool just to find out that the elem school required a "full sized" backpack because of the folders they had to carry back and forth. So our 25 dollar LLBean that was supposed to last 5 years was worthless and we had to buy another 35 dollar LL Bean.

The nice thing about LLBean though, is that if the backpack rips they will replace it.

But I will say, if you have a few children that you can "pass down" the smaller pack to it is much better for them.

Something with wheels is ideal but the schools around here forbid them. I guess they are looking to raise a society in need of chiropractors!:

Thanks so much for your responses.

Lizc - I never would have thought to look at pottery barn.

Pycelan - OK, sounds like the llbean should work then, since I think my girls are pretty average size for their age.

Amseiler - Thanks for the public school info. School folders are bigger than 11"x14.5"? Maybe at least they will get three years use out of them while in preschool. How annoying about the wheels. I am kind of in denial about the fact that my kids will have to be lugging around heavy backpacks before they reach their teens.

It's Pottery Barn Kids (not the regular Pottery Barn).

I got a nice kid's sized backpack for my 3 year-old at Children's Place last year for less than $10. I recently was in the store and saw that they had backpacks again this year. A regular backpack would just be way too big on my little guy, but this little kid one is perfect.

I bought the LL bean bag for both of my kids, my son had one 9 years ago and my daughter has one now, both were personalized with their names. The only reason I got them personalized was for daycare/preschool so it would be no issues with where their bag was. They are rather big though. I think LL bean has various sizes now if I'm not mistaken.
